I would like to wish all of the Fathers and Father figures out there a very lovely Fathers Day. My Dad is no longer with us, but his influence, strength and snarky sense of humor live on in me.
The photo above is of my older sister (on the far left) and me with our Dad at Christmas probably in 1999 or 2000. I have to guess at the year because I stopped dyeing my entire head pink not long after that. Whether your Dad is still with you, or smiling down on you from Heaven (like mine), I hope you shared some love with him today, if only in your heart and mind.
Three Words: Punk Rock Dads. Without going into any detail at all, just the idea that anyone would make a documentary film about Punk Rock Dads is so golden. I mean, seriously: taking the ultimate anti-authoritarian pop-culture figure and putting him in the position of being the iron-fisted authority in a child’s life is both wildly fascinating and unbelievably hilarious. So, convincing me to check out the new film, The Other F Word, (the “F” standing for Fatherhood) directed by Andrea Blaugrund Nevins was a total no-brainer. Because, Punk Rock Dads!
My Sister, Keven (yes, her name is Keven) my awesome Dad and Me. Photo taken some time around Christmas, about ten years ago.
