Father’s Day is here again — cue the grill smoke, awkward necktie gifts, and Dad jokes on full blast. But let’s be real: not everyone has their dad around to celebrate, and that’s okay. This day can still be full of love, laughs, and honoring the father figures (official or not) who help shape our lives.

If you’re considering sinking your teeth into Stone Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe (2023) by stone sculptor Louis Sarowsky, you might want to call your dentist first. Crafted from limestone, brownstone, marble, and soapstone, this zero-calorie whopper serves pure rock-solid indulgence with a side of irony. Priced at $7,500 at the Spring Break Art Show, it’s the only burger that costs more than your rent and lasts longer too!

Happy Thanksgiving, Dear Readers! I hope you have some kind of delicious feast planned for today which may or may not be preceded by a Cheese Plate! The one pictured here is by ceramic artist Lauren Cohen. This work was part of Lauren’s hilarious, immersive installation Brian’s Estate Sale at this year’s Spring Break Art Show. See more of her woks from that show at This Link! Bon Appetite!
I finally made it to the first post-Covid Spring Break Art Show — an extra-fun art event that this year took place across two entire vacant floors of a fancy office building on Madison Avenue. Having each individual office or cubical designed with the artworks of an individual or group of artists makes for a fantastically immersive experience. At times, I felt like I was in a haunted house of art, losing my sense of direction as I wandered from room to room, being charmed and delighted to varying degrees by what I encountered. Needless to say, but you can see I am about to, it was very surreal and fun. Check out a few of my favorite pieces at the above Instagram post with a simple click of your mouse!
