Tiny Reindeer Made From Christmas Tree Bits

Reindeer and Wreaths
The One on the Far Left, Rear,  Appears to be Some Kind of Pirate (All Photos By Gail)

I had just gotten off the C Train at Spring Street when I passed right by a lovely Christmas Tree Lot, where someone had created these adorable little Reindeer from  leftover twigs and bits of trees.

What a clever idea! I don’t know if they were for sale, or if they were just for adding Holiday spirit to the lot, but I enjoyed looking at them.

DIY Psychedelic Recycling Bin

Hey, here’s a simple, cost-effective and undeniably creative way to liven-up an ordinary, bland blue recycling bin that you might have sitting out back on your patio, or in the basement or garage, or wherever. All you need are hands, a few cans of spray paint and little bit of an aesthetic feel for what colors look good together.

I saw this bin in the backyard of artist Mark Kostabi. I can’t say if Mark actually did the painting, but it pleases me to imagine that he did.

Vintage Coca Cola Cooler Furniture

The Seattle Antiques Market is a fun place to buy or just browse a huge variety of antiques, vintage goods and mid-century design items that’s located adjacent to the waterfront. I took this photo when I was in Seattle this past summer. I’d never seen furniture made from old Coca Cola coolers but I think you can tell by the look of this chair that this is a pretty clever idea. Right behind the chair is an equally neat sofa, but it has display boxes of silver spoons resting on it, so you can’t get the full View. Add this to your list of DIY Home Design Ideas!

I’m always on the look out for Do It Yourself, Contemporary Design ideas for the home, and this empty Paint Can Chandelier, spotted hanging in Urban Outfitters at the corner of 72nd Street and Broadway, really caught my eye. You can see from the close-up photo below that this lighting fixture could probably be made with some inexpensive cables and a little home improvement electrical know-how Googled from the Interwebs.
