Jesus god, can you believe we’ve got just two more days of 2021 to survive before we kick off another year of weirdness? Personally, I lost track of linear time a while back.  Maybe take some time today to think about whether or not you’re in a better place now than you were 365 days ago. If you’re not dead, then the answer is probably ‘Yes,’ but there is no objective reality. I know that I feel fortunate to be healthy — thanks to being vaccinated plus a booster — employed, and in the company of good friends. If you’re feeling not so great, try to end the year on a high note by being thankful for what you have rather than miserable for what you have not. It’s going to be okay

Raddington Falls is the tag of street artist Rick Anthony Diaz (AKA Rad) who specializes in paste-ups of LEGO-Like toy figures accompanied by socially conscious messages. This Pink Melted Ice Cream Bar marks the first time I’ve seen an isolated image of his without an accompanying humanoid figure. Very intriguing.

While most of the street art that I discover on my adventures is clearly tagged, sometimes that tag is hard to decipher, and I need some assistance identifying the artist. By connecting with artists on Instagram, I’ve learned that they all seem to know and support each other, which is cool and very helpful.  If I don’t know the artist behind a work that I want to put on the blog, and the first person I ask doesn’t know, then they know someone who does.

This is how I ended up connecting with the creator of an unsigned series of works that I’ve been seeing on the streets, and documenting, since around Christmastime last year. Each of the paste-ups in this very distinctive series features one to three still life images accompanied by a one-word title, with the artist’s signature being  conspicuously absent. If you live in the east village or downtown, there’s no way you haven’t seen them. All I can say is that they speak to me.
