Welcome to your second Holiday Season of rocking a mask to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Masking-up is such a part of everyday life now, it doesn’t even seem weird anymore. If you are like me and are mostly wearing the KN95 or blue medical mask, it’s fun to dress those up by layering them with one of the many colorful Pomchies masks I have in my Mask Wardrobe (which is now a thing). If you read this post from a few weeks back, then you know about my ongoing quest to find attractive hair scrunchies at a reasonable price. Such a simple thing is more challenging that you would even imagine. But today I was celebrating this lovely July 4th by strolling up the Sixth Avenue Street Fair between 14th and 23rd Streets, and came upon a booth selling hair accessories that included three scrunchies on sale for just $5 – one dollar less that what American Apparel charges for just one scrunchie. It’s true what they say; life’s simple pleasures are the best.

Cheap Scrunchies Rule, OK
I realize that wearing a scrunchie in the hair is verboten in accepted fashion circles. But fuck that: I have very long hair that needs to be tied up on my daily commute through the PATH train wind tunnels, or if I am in any kind of breeze at all, otherwise I’ve got my hair flying all over the place and sticking to my lipstick and all kinds of unacceptableness. So, the scrunchie is pretty much a part of my daily accessorizing ritual, as it keeps the hair tied back neatly while adding a little splash of color to whatever outfit I am wearing.
