When David Bowie was alive, he spent his time in NYC living in the SoHo neighborhood; specifically, in a luxury apartment building located at 285 Lafayette Street. Since Bowie’s passing in 2016, various pieces of street art have popped up on the block as a continuing homage to the late icon. The mural above is the latest. At first glance, it looks like just a random collage of images with the featured one being some sort of monster or alien being. LA Pop Art Salutes David Bowie with Line of Branded Apparel.
“There are Rock Stars, and there are Rock Gods – David Bowie is one of the few artists in history that’s both,” offers LA Pop Art company founder Joseph Leibovic, announcing his company’s partnership with The David Bowie Estate to celebrate the artist’s legacy with an all-new collection of Word Art apparel.
David Bowies’ passion for visual imagery was the inspiration for this collection of unique LA Pop Art hand drawn Word Art designs. The distinctive apparel collection is launched with several of the most iconic images in Bowie’s catalog, the first being a design which reimagines the classic Bowie logo using a selection of his most popular song titles.

The tristate area band Tragedy started out as a heavy metal tribute to the Bee Gees, but they have now expanded their repertoire to include a wider variety of classic pop acts, and that’s just good news for everyone. Back in the ’70s and ’80s, when Rock & Roll was still chart-topping genre rather than something that people over age 40 get nostalgic about, popular bands doing Christmas-themed songs was a thing that I enjoyed. While many of my holiday favorites fall into the pop-ballad category — the gloriously maudlin “Merry Christmas, Darling” by The Carpenters, or Emerson Lake and Palmer’s appropriately stoic “I Believe in Father Christmas” spring instantly to mind — there are a few modern standards that truly rock out.
