CBGB music club saw it all – the Ramones, Blondie, Talking Heads, Sonic Youth and so many more. The layers of flyers and playbills, graffiti, stickers and spilt beer seemingly coating the club’s every surface were as dense and sticky as the history of the place. Joe Holmes’ photos put the viewer right into the space – looking into the mixing board area, one can’t help but wonder at the cacophony of sounds that bounced off these heavily plastered walls. Steven Tyler Does Impromptu Performance at Launch of Riff Pop Up Clothing Store
At the end of a very exciting week that included indulgent gourmet foodie events and a Rolling Stone Magazine-sponsored concert featuring cool bands like The Sheep Dogs and Cake, we rounded out the week in fitting scenester style at a party for designer Andy Hilfiger’s Andrew Charles line of ready-to wear-Rock ‘n Roll clothing, now on display/for sale at pop-up store Riff, located at 313 Bowery in the space formerly occupied by the Morrison Hotel Gallery. The designs in this moderately priced collection – which includes T-Shirts, blouses and tops, jeans, jackets and dresses – are inspired by the very fun style of legendary Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler and his daughter, model Chelsea Tyler.

The Birth of Joey Ramone Place

On This Date, November 30th In 2003: The corner of Bowery and Second Street in New York City was renamed Joey Ramone Place in honor of the singer of The Ramones who passed away from cancer on April 15th in 2001. The sign is one of the most popular landmarks in NYC for “souvenir seekers,” shall we say. To dissuade those who are light fingered, the sign has been moved to 20 feet above ground level.
