WorleyGig Has Reached 6,000 Posts!

It came as a bit of a surprise to notice that, while checking our stats on the evening of October 6th, that this little blog of mine — still going strong for 17 years on the web and counting — has reached a milestone goal of 6,000 posts published! I wanted to wait until today to celebrate, so as to not steal the thunder of the tragic passing of the great Edward Van Halen, who shall be missed on this earthly plane, but whose musical legacy is immortal. Today we are celebrating the 17th Birthday of The Worley Gig, the Blog Of Neat Things that I launched on this very day, June 10th in 2003 – wow!  While many of my peer blogs from back-in-the-day have fallen by the wayside  (RIP: Skulls and Bacon, Modern Urban Living, According2G, etc.) The ‘Gig is surviving and thriving as we adapt to changing times. Holy Mother of God, can you even believe I’ve been writing Worleygig Dot Com, the world’s Raddest Blog, for fifteen solid years without stopping? It really is unbelievable: and yet, it is true. It was fifteen years ago today that The Worley Gig found its permanent home at this here domain, after first originating in print as a regular column in the East Village-based monthly arts and entertainment publication, The New York Hangover, and later moving on to great success at Pandemonium Online, followed by a few years of breaking new ground at Starpolish. What a long, strange trip it’s been.
