Street artist Aida Miro (@aidamiro) painted this vibrant Pink Ganesh, the elephant-headed Hindu God of Beginnings, back in November of 2021, but I  saw it for the first time on May14th and was so happy  find it untagged and looking like it was freshly painted!

According to this source, “Lord Ganesha clears all obstacles and paves the way for us to move forward in life. The large elephant head of Lord Ganesha symbolizes wisdom, understanding, and a discriminating intellect that one must possess to attain perfection in life.” Miro has also added the phrase “Rise By Lifting Others.” Sweet.

The Mural is Located in NYC’s East Village, on Sixth Street Just East of First Avenue (Next to a Duncan Donuts).

Pink Thing of The Day: Abandoned Pink Child’s Play Stroller

For reasons that are a mystery to me, the southeast corner of First Avenue and 14th Street has become a dumping ground for assorted household garbage just recently. It’s beyond disgusting. Come on people; have a little pride in your city and refrain from dumping your garbage on the sidewalk. Every apartment building in the city has assigned bins for refuse disposal. You don’t need to strew your shit on the corner of a busy intersection. Losers.

As an example though of something that was probably abandoned on the spot,  with little malice of forethought (though with a serious lack of personal responsibility), I recently noticed a discarded Play Stroller that was Pink enough to make make whip out my phone and document its sad demise. They could have at least tried to haul it to a trash bin.

On the corner of 14th Street and 1st Avenue, where we once reviewed the short-lived Meatball Factory, there now sits a welcome addition to this trending East Village neighborhood: Bait & Hook Seafood Shack. Specializing in seafood favorites and American comfort food, Bait & Hook flaunts a warm, intimate interior and minimalist nautical décor that includes authentic, re-purposed lobster traps suspended from the ceiling and ship’s wheels adorning the walls.
