One of my favorite pieces from the Here and Elsewhere, group exhibit currently up at the New Museum of Contemporary Art is a mixed media installation called Qalandia 2087 by Palestinian artist Wafa Hourani.
Qalandia 2087 fills nearly an entire gallery at the museum and is lots of fun to explore while contemplating the political and sociological ramifications of the piece, especially considering what is going on in that part of the world at this very moment in time. Just over a week ago, the music world lost Singer, Songwriter, Producer and member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Lou Reed. In honor of his life, fine art photography archive site, Rock Paper Photo has released an online dedicated gallery, including 2 never before seen Andrew Kent images of Lou, that can be viewed at This Link. Not My Broken Suitcase, But an Incredible Simulation
Baggage (mis)handlers at various airports across the country have finally managed to totally fuck the locks on my very expensive suitcase due to the constant re-opening and incorrect re-closing of my bag, necessitated by the endless “Security checks” that go on when you travel these days and have to check luggage. It was especially exciting when all of my shit fell out onto the rain-soaked pavement as I got into my cab at LaGuardia. Thanks, assholes.
I got home from California just before midnight after waiting in line for a Taxi at Laguardia airport for – I wish I was making this up – an hour and 20 minutes, only to find / smell not one but two dead fish in the tank, due to overfeeding by their caretaker. It’s nice to know I was missed.
