While strolling down Clinton Street on the Lower East Side recently, I passed a neighborhood bakery that I affectionately refer to as the “ghetto bakery” — mostly because the cakes in the window rarely look like anything you’d actually want to eat. Case in point: this Pink Barbie-themed Kids’ Birthday Cake.

Stained Glass Mural By @Tapeartist on Avenue C Bus Shelter
When I arrived for the start of my morning commute at the bus stop near the corner of Avenue C and 14th Street, adjacent to Stuyvesant Town, I encountered a lovely surprise in the form of this psychedelic tape mural stretching across the back glass of the bus shelter. The geometric design by E.S. Klein, also known as Tape Artist, (@tapeartist) must have gone up prior to this past holiday weekend. I love it!
The multi-color design is meticulously applied and really brightens up the bus shelter. My guess is that Klein put this up over the course of couple of late night sessions.
I hope that the City and the MTA lets it stay up.
If you want to add the Stained Glass Tape Mural to your next Urban Street Art Safari, here is the Bus Shelter’s location.
Update: As of Friday 10/13 at 7:30 AM, This Mural Has Been Removed. Sadness!

Alphabet Mural in Alphabet City
This mural of the letters of the alphabet, called (appropriately) Alphabet City, is the work of Brooklyn-based artists The Yok and Sheryo, who work for the Jersey City-based arts group Green Villain.
The mural went up on the exterior walls of the RCN Building on Avenue C between 5th and 6th Streets last December, but with severe winter we had, it was only nice enough this past weekend for me to get inspired walk over there and get some good shots. Enjoy!
