Instagram Post of The Week: Halloween Monster Cake!

A couple of weeks ago, I stopped to gaze into the window of Magnolia Bakery in midtown while en route to the NBC Studios to attend a taping of that week’s Saturday Night Live (Host: Rami Malek). What a delight it was to see this tiered Halloween-themed cake right up front. So scary cute! Whatever your plans (or lack thereof ), have a safe and enjoyable Halloween!

Good timing: it is a thing. Because we neglected to pay close attention to the unorthodox start time of the recent opening reception for Mark Ryden’s The Art of Whipped Cream exhibit at the Paul Kasmin Gallery, we arrived four minutes before they locked the doors behind us, and had to do a mad dash through the gallery to snap some photos for this post before they gave us the bum’s rush.

The upside to our extreme tardiness is that gallery was nearly empty, and we were able to secure many decent, people-free photos! Winning!

One of our favorite Chelsea venues, the Mike Weiss Gallery, is currently hosting a group show called Objects and Everyday Goods, which features new works by artists that we were first introduced to at Mike Weiss — such as Cameron Gray and Tom Fruin — both of whom make art that is just insane, as well as some new favorites and a few artists we’ve not seen before. It’s fun to discover new art at Mike Weiss Gallery! Let’s take a peak at this eclectic show! Continue reading Objects and Everyday Goods at Mike Weiss Gallery
