I am not a shoe person, but this image of a cluster of tiny Barbie Shoes in many assorted shades of Pink is so breathtaking I would like to frame it and hang it up in the Chickpad. *Sigh.* The Pinkness.

Yes, it Exists: The Joan Jett Barbie Doll


She Loves Rock & Roll

The Joan Jett Barbie Doll was released in December of 2009 as part of Mattel’s Ladies of The ’80s Barbie Doll collection (which also included dolls created in the likeness of Debbie Harry and Cindy Lauper). While the doll is no longer being manufactured, a quick Google search reveals that the fashionable and highly collectible Ms. Jett can be purchased at various locales on the Interwebs for between $44 and $56 — quite reasonable for such a find! A very wet and stormy night in NYC was transformed into a completely sublime evening by the gala opening of new works by husband and wife artist team Sas and Colin Christian, which is currently on display at the Opera Gallery in Soho. Sas and Colin – who are both painters and sculptors – find inspiration in old sci-fi movies, pinup girl/ supermodels, anime, ambient electronic music and H.P. Lovecraft. Pink Thing of The Day: Life Size Barbie’s Dream House

Jesus God, I would so live in this place. This 3,500 square foot house in Malibu, California was designed by “Happy Chic” interior designer Jonathan Adler in March of 2009 for Barbie’s 50th Birthday and was never open to the public. At least we have photos, viewable via the above link, to see what a masterpiece of pink pop culture it truly was. *Sigh*
