I don’t think I want to know.
I think it’s safe to say that most people who live in Manhattan don’t do very many traditionally touristy things when they are out on their own. At least that’s true for me. I’ve lived in NYC for over twenty years and, after hitting all of the famous, must-see attractions at least once (RIP The Top Of The World), the most touristy thing I do these days is go to museums. But last night I met up with a former high school classmate of mine and her family, who were enjoying their very first visit to NYC, and when they expressed a desire to hit the Top Of The Rock – the observation deck at the top of Rockefeller Center – so they could cross it off their list, I was in just the right mood to go along. I’m really glad I did, because it was a lot of fun!

Even though I do not get that many colds, I like to have box of tissues at arm’s length or closer just about everywhere I go. Because here in The City, you never know when you are going to need a tissue: this much I have learned. In this never-ending flu season we’ve been experiencing for what seems like most of my adult life, it might be a good idea – if you are flat backing it in on the sofa and near death – to get yourself one of these remote control tissue box conveyor thingies. That way you can bring the tissue box of sweet relief to your sick and dying self by merely extending your weakened arm down to the floor. If you like to drink, rock and be on a boat, I know an activity that you would really enjoy, and that activity is going out on a Rocks Off Concert Cruise. Oh my god, it is possibly the most fun thing that I think you can do on a summer night in New York City. The Rocks Off Concert Cruise happens a few evenings each week on a massive boat called the Temptress, and costs between $20 and $40; depending I guess on which band is playing.
There is room to party and more on this awesome ship, which features a roomy upper outside deck, smaller lower deck, and a massive inside covered space that includes several bars, tables to hang at, a stage and dance floor area. Party on a boat!
