For more years than I can recall, I’ve been photo-documenting the proliferation of David Bowie’s likeness on assorted things ranging from art and street art, to holiday ornaments, toys, books, mugs, magnets, what have you. With a few exceptions, most of these photos never make it into a blog post: I just like to collect them. Because, David Bowie. After recently spotting two pieces of Bowie-inspired street art on the same block in Greenpoint, I finally decided to load them all into one big Bowie extravaganza. Please enjoy!
From Ultimate Classic Rock :
David Bowie will release a brand new studio album, The Next Day, in March, 2013. It will be the recently reclusive rocker’s first new record since 2003′s Reality. Bowie wasted no time this morning (January 8th) kicking off his 66th birthday celebration, launching a new website mere minutes after midnight ET with the announcement and the release of a video for the record’s first single, “Where Are We Now?”
On This Date, January 8th, in 1991: Def Leppard guitarist Steve Clark was found dead at his Chelsea flat by his girlfriend, after a night of heavy drinking and prescription drug consumption. He was 30 years old. An autopsy revealed the cause of death as an overdose of codeine combined with Valium, morphine and alcohol. In 2007, Clark was posthumously ranked No.11 on Classic Rock Magazine’s 100 Wildest Guitar Heroes. What a waste. RIP, Steve.
