Just when you think Cody Foster & Co. can’t create any new and clever David Bowie Christmas Ornaments for your holiday décor, you see this thing at NY Now and are proven wrong. Yes, it is a glass ornament of a white cat head with the Aladdin Sane lightning bolt across its face and heterochromia eyes — which Bowie did not actually have, but which he is commonly depicted as having. What Bowie actually suffered from is called anisocoria: namely that one pupil was bigger than the other. Live and learn.

Bowie’s Eyes By Elena Lobanowa (All Photos By Gail)

For more years than I can recall, I’ve been photo-documenting the proliferation of David Bowie’s likeness on assorted things ranging from art and street art, to holiday ornaments, toys, books, mugs, magnets, what have you. With a few exceptions, most of these photos never make it into a blog post: I just like to collect them. Because, David Bowie. After recently spotting two pieces of Bowie-inspired street art on the same block in Greenpoint, I finally decided to load them all into one big Bowie extravaganza. Please enjoy!

Taco Tuesday Has a Mascot!

How cute is this little felted Taco with a Mustache tree ornament? Answer: so darn cute. Let us make him the official Worleygig mascot of Taco Tuesday, shall we?  Sure, why not. This festive little guy was spotted by me a few weeks back at NY Now summer marketplace in the booth for Ornaments 4 Orphans, a for-profit, fair trade social enterprise dedicated to providing critical support for orphans and vulnerable children in Africa. They use ethical and sustainable business practices, create jobs, fight poverty, preserve intact families, empower communities, and ultimately prevent children from becoming orphans. You can browse their huge selection of beautiful, hand-crafted ornaments, and do a bit of early holiday shopping for a good cause, at This Link!

Remembering Ruth Bader Ginsburg: One Year Gone

RBG Holiday Ornaments By Cody Foster & Co. (Photo By Gail)

The Notorious RBG shuffled off this mortal coil one year ago today (September 18th, 2020), and she is sorely missed. Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a pioneer and a champion for women’s rights the likes of whom we need more of! Ruth’s legacy deserved so much more than for her to be replaced on the Supreme Court by a right wing ringer who’s never even tried a case (fuck!), but all we can do is move forward. We miss you, RBG!
