New York’s Museum of Natural History always has one or two special exhibits that require purchase of an extra ticket above the standard price of admission, but that’s because they are worth it. One of the museum’s current special exhibits is called The Nature of Color, and it is just fantastic. The exhibit is immersive and contains many different galleries and rooms. For example, the Red Room highlights how the color red can mean status, power, and fertility while simultaneously representing sports teams, political parties, and religions.  The centerpiece of this room is a flowing Red Silk Chiffon and Organza Gown created especially for the The Nature of Color by fashion designer Brandon Maxwell.

This colorful cluster of discarded soda bottles awaits the arrival of the recycling truck at the curb along West 26th Street in the Chelsea Gallery District. My guess is that the labels were custom printed for a Fashion Week Event, perhaps. They look so lovely laying there, it seems almost a shame to throw them out. So, preserved here for posterity, I present your Pop Trash.

Bacon Thing of the Day: Plate of Candied Bacon

Of course, everyone goes to New York Fashion Week events for the Fashion, but they also go for the food. Repoproom and Storefront outdid themselves with their champagne brunch that accompanied a showcase of brands like Ilana Kohn clothing, Marrin Costello jewelry and Souda design-focused furniture. The highlight of their very satisfying spread was the above pictured plate of Candied Bacon Strips, which I hovered over for several minutes. Mmm, finger lickin’ good!
