If you suspect that we are getting a little bit desperate to find Pink Things for featuring in this weekly space, you would be correct. Thankfully, the Pink Drinks of summer are not only keeping us refreshed, hydrated, and slightly buzzed, but they also make a nice post, don’t they? This tall cool one is the Watermelon Daiquiri offered at Bottino Restaurant in Chelsea. Bottino specializes in delicious homemade pastas and other Italian favorites, and it has the most insanely lush backyard garden / covered patio for a safe and relaxed dining experience. At this time in our lives when little things mean so much, we look forward to a future visit!
I recently enjoyed my first official cocktail-in-a-bar of the Covid summer and, fittingly, it was a Pink Drink! Pictured above is an enticing, frosty glass of Frosé (frozen rosé wine), which I procured at Versa; a cool ‘rooftop’ restaurant located on the fifth floor of the Renaissance hotel in midtown. While Versa is not literally on the hotel’s roof, which is maybe 20 stories higher up, its spacious patio emulates a rooftop experience, while also allowing for pandemic-compliant social distancing and other important safety guidelines. While enjoying the restaurant’s chill vibe, I happily discovered that if Frosé melts before you can suck it all down, it simply turns into chilled rose wine, as there is no diluting from added ice! Win win!
Over the summer, I attended This Rad Party to celebrate the release of the Volkswagen Limited Edition #PinkBeetle. In keeping with Pink theme, they served refreshing pink drinks in pink glasses, delivered on a pink tray! Oh, the pinkness!
If you’re in the market for a new sweet ride, why not consider the first car named for its own hastag — Volkswagen’s 2017 limited-edition #PinkBeetle? We had the opportunity to see the #PinkBeetle all up close and personal at a fun launch party earlier this week, and it looked like it was just made to be the Pink Thing of the Day, so here we go!
Fresh Fuchsia Metallic is the color of this beauty’s vibrant pink-hued exterior. The 2017 #PinkBeetle is powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged engine matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission that produces 170 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque. The special pink designer Beetle will be available in coupe and convertible configurations when it reaches dealer showrooms this fall.
On the exterior, the new #PinkBeetle is trimmed with gloss black mirror housings and black running boards. Coupes will ride on 17-in., multi-spoke aluminum wheels and the convertibles will be equipped with 18-in., 5-spoke Twister design wheels. New bi-Xenon headlights and other LED lighting systems are standard.
The cabin of the #PinkBeetle is set up with a black dash trimmed in pink with a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel with paddle shifters. Heated front seats and back seating are upholstered in black Pink Club cloth inserts that are plaid with pink striping.
An MIB II multimedia system is standard and comes with a 6.3-in. touch screen with VW’s Car-Net app suite that offers connectivity for all three major smartphone platforms. A rearview camera, keyless entry, and push-button start, plus a 3-month satellite radio subscription, are included.
Everyone enjoyed looking at and being photographed with the #PinkBeetle while also sampling tasty snacks and refreshing beverages!
The 2017 Volkswagen #PinkBeetle goes on sale this fall. Pricing will be announced closer to the launch date. VW says the model will be sold in limited quantities, but we were unable to procure actual production numbers.
On what was surely the hottest day of the year last summer, I was invited to a party held at a duplex in Chelsea that I would have to be richer than god to afford. The party was thrown by a company that makes foundation garments (i.e. underwear) for women who are a size three but want to fit into clothes that are a size zero. Retarded. What I recall most about this party, besides the scorching-hot-with-100%-humidity-style weather (summer in New York City!) and my insane jealousy at wanting to own this house, is that they served cupcakes from The Cupcake Café (SFD = so fucking delicious) that you could wash down with this fancy pink sparkling vodka called Nuvo. This stuff is pretty crazy in that it is pink, tastes like a combination of vodka, champagne and fruit punch, and gets you very drunk very fast. I highly recommend it. We were all given gift bags at the party and there was a “single serving” bottle of Nuvo in the bag – classeh! Plus it comes in a very pretty bottle that I had a super hard time putting in the recycling bin once it was empty (i.e. ten minutes after I got home). The bottle alone probably costs $20 but you can order your own Nuvo now for just $19.99 (regularly $29.99) at This Link ! Cheers!
