Spanish Designer Patricia Urquiola’s Tropicalia Chair, created in 2008 for Moroso, is a stunning exploration of color, material, and form. As part of the Tropicalia collection, this chair exemplifies Urquiola’s talent for transforming everyday objects into sculptural statements.
At first glance, the geometric steel frame — a minimalist tubular structure — recalls a traditional lounge chair. However, it’s the woven polymer threads, arranged in intricate patterns, that bring the chair to life.

While it may resemble a mid-century Egg Chair, the One Page sculptural armchair by Israeli designer Ron Arad is something brand new: a stunning example of creative design meeting innovative craftsmanship. Inspired by the idea of a single, moving sheet of paper, this armchair beautifully captures the seamless and flowing forms that are a hallmark of Arad’s work.

Sigh. Another New York Design Week has concluded and what a blast it was! We are left with a few new snazzy branded tote bags, hundreds of snaps in the iPhone, sore feet from all the walking, and memories of some terrific showroom parties, like the one I attended at Moroso on the Friday before ICFF. In addition to all of the gorgeous furniture on display, like Tokujin Yoshioka’s Bouquet Armchair seen just slightly out of focus in the above photo, Moroso’s bar had not one but two varieties of Prosecco (white and rose) on offer. I think you must agree that the Pink Prosecco fully complements the decor. Cheers!
