Here’s a holiday sight that stopped me in my tracks: a larger-than-life Santa Claus statue on display at Tangram Mall, nestled in the heart of Flushing’s Chinatown. Picture this — jolly old St. Nick towering in his classic red suit, set against the glow of vibrant Chinese neon signs reflected in the glossy mall windows. It’s the ultimate mash-up of holiday cheer and cultural flair!

Oh, the cuteness of this little bunny performing the Chinese Dragon Dance in celebration of the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Rabbit! We were in Flushing Queens yesterday to attend the Big Apple Comic Con and inadvertently ended up celebrating the Chinese New Year since our subway stop was right in the heart of Chinatown! We saw a fun parade and lots of Chinese Lunar New Year cultural events inside the very modern Tangram Mall, which seems to be the social hub of this Asian neighborhood. Very fun! Happy New Year to all who celebrate!

The greatest discovery any foodie can make is finding a local restaurant where you just know when you sit down at your table that anything you could order on the menu will be delicious. This is not the same thing as having a favorite restaurant where you really love the Cheese Enchiladas or the Green Coconut Curry. I’m talking about a dining establishment that not only serves your favorite dish, but a place where the quality of what you already know you love is so amazing that you’re encouraged to try things you might not have otherwise. It is from such circumstances that true Food Adventurism is born, and that just makes life more enjoyable. Because dining out is awesome.
