Aidan Has A Posse – a Benefit Concert featuring Buckcherry and The Toilet Boys

August 10, 2011, New York, NY10th Street Entertainment, Flying Television and Bowery Presents announce AIDAN HAS A POSSE, a special benefit concert featuring a performance by rockers Buckcherry, Toilet Boys and Pisser on Thursday, August 11th. This intimate event is being held at the Music Hall of Williamsburg and will include a silent auction with items such as an 6 day rock n’ roll cruise with performances by Buckcherry, Hellyeah, Hinder and others, a guitar played and autographed by Keith Nelson of Buckcherry, New York Giants tickets, a Samsung Galaxy Tab, unique rock memorabilia and much more.

Joshua Liner Gallery To Host Silent Art Auction to Benefit Tim Strazza!

On Thursday July 28, 2011, The Joshua Liner Gallery will hold a silent art auction / fund raiser, the proceeds of which will benefit its Assistant Director, Tim Strazza, who was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. To help with Tim’s medical bills, many gallery artists and friends of the gallery have donated artworks, including Shawn Barber, Jeremy Fish, Tat Ito, Chris Mendoza, Ron English, Jim Houser, Swoon, Josh Keyes, Swoon, Sylvia Ji, Oliver Vernon, Shepard Fairey and many others!

Shepard Fairey Copyright Infringement Lawsuit Dismissed By Judge!

On Tuesday, a judge dismissed copyright lawsuits between street artist Shepard Fairey and the Associated Press news service over an image of Barack Obama that Fairey used for a 2006 Obama campaign poster. This is a rather complicated case, or series of related cases actually, which involve Fairey and the “Obama Hope” image, which was later used on merchandise such as T-shirts and mugs.

New Kenny Scharf Mural Goes up at Houston and Bowery

Geoffrey took the photo above late yesterday afternoon as he and I walked east on Houston Street. We were out and about in the Soho area because we had actually planned to hit up Kenny Sharf’s new exhibit, Hot Glue Hullabaloo at the Hole Gallery on Greene Street, but it was closed for Black Friday.

Alternative Press 25th Anniversary Show At Sloan Fine Art

Starting today, the Sloan Fine Art Gallery on the lower east side is hosting the Alternative Press 25th Anniversary Art Exhibition for three days only! I realize that all of the indie rock hipsters are busy with CMJ crap this week, but I attended the opening party  last night and can assure you that  this exhibit is definitely worth your time to run over and check it out between your showcases and random pukefests.  For this special exhibition, the gallery’s rear room has been transformed with tons of cool photographs, milestones and memoirs from the Alternative Press archives while the main gallery highlights original artworks from artists/musicians who have been featured in the magazine over the years. It was sweetly nostalgic  for me, looking through everything and remembering way back when Trent Reznor used to get me all hot and bothered and I could stand to listen to a Nine Inch Nails CD for more that 30 seconds. Good times.
