Pink Thing of The Day: Pink Soda Can with Sunglasses

Does this look to you like a Pink Soda Can is wearing Pink Sunglasses? Because that’s what it looks like to me. This photo was absolutely not staged but part of real-life scenario I encountered near the downtown intersection of West 57th Street and Broadway. After a  pause-and-crouch to snap a few pics, I was on my way again!

KaNO Mural on Allen Street Celebrates Five Points Festival

The annual Five Points Festival Designer Toy and Comic Show is coming up this weekend, June 1st and 2nd, and I am very excited to be attending for my second year! Coincidentally, I happened to walk by the above mural, located on Allen Street, a few weeks ago, unaware that it was originally created to honor the first-ever Five Points Fest, back in May of 2017. Apparently, the owners of the Allen Hotel reactivated a relationship with the Little Italy Street Art (LISA) Project  to bring street artist KaNO to the corner of Allen and Rivington Street, and this 40-foot mural was the result! Sweet!

Book Review: Tattoo Street Style By Nicolas Brulez

When I first moved to New York City about 20 years ago, I didn’t know many people, and so I spent a lot of time by myself, exploring my East Village neighborhood, and just people watching. On Sunday afternoons, I used to enjoy sitting at a window table at the late, great 7A Restaurant, having a cheap, boozy brunch while  watching the parade of tattooed rockers and rock star wannabes that would pass me by on their way to their mid-afternoon adventures. It’s true what they say that some of the best forms of entertainment are totally free.
