This charming Peacock Sculpture was crafted by Columbia-born artist Federico Uribe entirely from clear Plastic Forks and Spoons. At the recent Metro Curates art fair, Uribe had an entire booth devoted to his fanciful sculptures created from repurposed everyday objects such as CDs, Bike Helmets, Colored Pencils and Paint Brush Handles.

I found this innovative and gorgeous Pendant Lighting in the gallery / event space of Repoproom in the Chelsea Gallery District. It was my friend Anne who realized the globes are constructed from clusters from upcycled 2 Liter plastic Soda Bottles! What a great recycling idea!

Designed by Denmark-based studio Genanvendt, the LP Table Lamp creates a soft and subdued lighting, thanks not only to the records themselves (which help moderate the glow) but also to the screen of translucent material creating a cylinder around the light bulb itself. The first are folks who are fans of artist/photographer David LaChapelle’s extensive and highly impressive body of work. The second are those who only know his name because LaChapelle is guilty of having photographed America’s most notoriously repellent “Famous for Being Famous” family, The Kardashians, for their 2013 Christmas Card. And the third group are those who are confusing him with African American comedian Dave Chapelle. Just being serious.
