I’m always on the look out for Do It Yourself, Contemporary Design ideas for the home, and this empty Paint Can Chandelier, spotted hanging in Urban Outfitters at the corner of 72nd Street and Broadway, really caught my eye. You can see from the close-up photo below that this lighting fixture could probably be made with some inexpensive cables and a little home improvement electrical know-how Googled from the Interwebs. Notice how the motif continues on wall the background!

Ah, I get a little nostalgic for my long dead first iMac when I see how these (now ancient) iMac G3 carcasses have been gutted and re-purposed as pendant lighting for a travel agency called G Adventures. Clever!
Eastern European painter and sculptress, Agne Kisonaite, created this stunning sculpture, entitled simply Giant Lipstick, using over 5000 used lipstick tubes. Measuring a height of 2.5 meters (8 feet) with an overall weight of 200kg (440 pounds), the sculpture is incredibly modern and yet timelessly beautiful. Agne made the sculpture to draw attention to the need for green effort consciousness with regard to reduction, recycling and reuse here in our consumer culture. The Pickmaster Plectrum Cutter seems like a must-have accessory for any guitarist, in that this punch device lets you create unlimited custom guitar picks from any hard plastic card – such as a used gift card, or expired credit card – for an initial investment of just $39! The downside of this being such an in-demand item, of course, is that is is currently out of stock at Amazon UK, but I suppose you could keep checking back for a restock.
