While my days of hypersexual girl-fandom are far behind me, I’ve still got a pulse. One look at this week’s featured Video Clip, “Highway” from Canadian power-trio Bleeker, prompts me to declare that these three hot young guys who are playing some seriously hook-sharp rock should be out there stealing the fans away from Justin Beiber and similar nad-less dweebs at a fairly steady clip. I mean, why not? Come on ladies, get with the program!

Brainwashed: New Works and Old Favorites By Mr. Brainwash at Taglialatella Galleries
You might recall that last summer we made three or four unsuccessful attempts (before finally lucking out with our timing) to see the massive Mr. Brainwash Life is Beautiful pop-up exhibit, which was located under the High Line at 14th Street for a few months. Seriously, that shit was just never, ever open.
Pink Thing of the Day: Pink Poodle Book Ends
A & G Merchandise is a fun home furnishings store that’s just across the street from Sea Thai restaurant in Williamsburg, and Geoffrey and I often use it as our meet-up destination when we are heading to Sea from different points of departure. Recently, I arrived a few minutes before G, so I had time to browse a bit and see what’s new.
Check out this pair of Pink Poodle Book Ends! They look super retro and would be perfect as part of any Midcentury Modern decor! Made of heavy cast iron, one of these could easily serve as an impromptu bludgeoning device if you were being chased around your house by a mad man and didn’t have time to get to your kitchen knives.
The pair sells for $69 and you can buy them at This Link!
Moe’s Southwest Grill Hosts An Honestly Awesome Night!

Do you like Mexican food? I sure do. As a transplanted native of southern California, I was already spoiled for life when it comes to excellent Mexican food by the time I got to NYC 27 years ago. But the bar for (what passes for) Mexican food in NYC has definitely been raised, a lot, in recent years, and now it’s pretty easy to find reliable sources for the fresh taste of California-style Mexican food all over the city. One of my favorite spots to pick up a burrito that gets me all nostalgic for L.A. is the fast casual chain called Moe’s Southwest Grill. Maybe you have Moe’s in your town, so you already know what I am talking about.

Tanglewood By Shayne Dark at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden
If you haven’t been to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden yet this summer, you really must go while the Lily Pool Terrace is still in bloom, which is through September. Also new to the Garden (since July) are three large-scale installations by Canadian artist Shayne Dark, who brings his work to Brooklyn Botanic as part of a yearlong sculpture exhibit. The first one you’ll see, when you enter at 150 Eastern Parkway, is a group of bright blue-painted poles, which is called Tanglewood. The sculpture sits in the center of the Osborne Garden lawn, which allows viewers to approach it from a distance.
