Pink Thing Of The Day: Abandoned Pink Balloon

Aside from the bright contrast of colors between the Pink Balloon and Red Standpipe Connection, what stood out for me as I came upon this scene was how snuggly the balloon was wedged between the standpipe and the building’s black exhaust grate. Someone wanted to ensure that the balloon didn’t blow away. I’m glad for that, because otherwise I would have missed it on my hunt for Pink Things.

Pink Thing of The Day: Pink #1 Balloon

Standing on Avenue B and looking east down 8th Street, I saw an unidentifiable Pink Thing that caught my eye, and I went to investigate. Because: Pink Thing.

Pink #1 Balloon

It was a bright Pink Mylar Balloon in the shape of a Number 1! Someone had tethered it to the railing running around the side of the Church of St. Brigid, which is situated at that corner. The balloon’s origin remains a mystery.

Who’s Number 1? You are, baby.

Final Week to See Jeff Koons’ Seated Ballerina in Rockefeller Center

Jeff Koons‘ 45-foot tall inflatable nylon sculpture, Seated Ballerina, went up in Rockefeller Center Plaza on May 12th, 2017 and was originally due to be up only through June 2nd. But the sculpture’s tenure was extended by three weeks due to popular demand, which means you still have until this Friday, June 23rd, to make your pilgrimage to Midtown!

Seated Ballerina Right with People

Sunday was so very hot and summery here in the City, and I decided to train it uptown, where I visited a street fair, ate ice cream, and walked all around the Seated Ballerina sculpture, taking shots of her from every angle.

The famous golden statue of Prometheus is just in front of her.

Seated Ballerina Left Close Up

I like that she’s up high enough that you can crop tourists out of your pics, or leave them in for life-size-scale comparison.

This one was taken with my iPhone as opposed to my regular camera. The difference in quality is amazing.

Here’s a detailed look at the back of her skirt.

Seated Ballerina Through the Trees

Here she is as seen through the trees from across 50th street!

Jeff Koons Seated Ballerina can be found in Rockefeller Center Plaza, bordered by Fifth Avenue to the East, Sixth Avenue to the West, 49th Street to the South and 50th Street to the North.

Balloon Saloon, The Most Fun Store in NYC!

Balloon Saloon Exterior
All Photos By Gail

We passed by the Balloon Saloon — the store dominates the northeast corner of West Broadway and Duane Streets in Tribeca — on the way to dine at The Odeon Bistro, and just had to stop and take a few photos. Balloon Saloon, which sells all kinds of inflatables, and also delivers every configuration of balloon clusters that you can imagine, was evidently voted The Most Fun Store in NYC; and you don’t even have to enter the store to see why. Because look at all of these Balloon-type Things that they have right out front!

They have kiddie wading pools as well! Get yours now before summer is over!

Balloon Saloon Flamingo

Also, you need this Pink Flamingo to float around your pool on! (Cocktails not included)

Balloon Saloon is Located at 133 West Broadway, at the Corner of Duane Street, in Tribeca, New York City. Visit Them Online at This Link!

I was waiting for the 14D crosstown Bus on 9th Avenue between 17th and 18th Streets and spotted this fun balloon dancing merrily in the wind while tethered to a door of the Community Center of the Housing Project located at that address.
