Three Must Have Jewelry Boxes

As a child, I amassed quite a collection of costume jewelry pieces – mostly cast-offs from my mom’s and grandmother’s collections — which I wore when playing ‘Dress Up’ games with my friends. It didn’t have much real value, but I loved my collection of gaudy baubles, nonetheless.  My first ‘jewelry box’ was just a little cardboard box, where I would return my beads, brooches, and rings once I was done with my play, but I would often open that box just to admire my treasure. Eventually, I inherited a proper jewelry box from my older sister, and while it was rather beat up-looking, I confess I never thought to replace it (sentimental value, I suppose) until I was well into adulthood. Eye On Design: Ziggurat Black Stripes Storage Boxes By Oeuffice

The research laboratory called Oeuffice was estalished by Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte and Jakub Zak to develop innovative objects in limited editions. The designers met in Milan after studying in their native Canada and attending university in Berlin. Like Ettore Sottsass, they share a vision of a contemporary utopia in which they refashion architectural design on a domestic scale. The Ziggurat, an iconic architectural form that Sottsass revered, provided inspiration for this stack of Wooden Storage Boxes inlaid with acrylic and solid stained wood (2012). The ziggurat’s form and masterful wood inlays originate in the Near East and were executed by Lebanese artists specialized in the technique.

Pink Thing Of The Day: Mannequin With Pink Wig

Here’s another sweet shot from my trip to Palm Springs last Christmas. There’s a Saks Fifth Avenue at a swanky outdoor mall located in the adjacent town of Palm Desert, and I snagged a serious cache of blog fodder from their many eye catching in-store displays. This very fetching pink-haired mannequin is pimping a “Little Somethings for the Ladies”. . . whatever that may entail.

It's Girl Scout Cookie Time!

Girl Scout Cookie Fort

My manager at my day job bought, like, ten boxes of Girl Scout Cookies and I built a fort out of them on the top of her desk.
