Geoffrey’s Dream

“So, I had this strange dream that we were at some art installation and they were showing a Louise Bourgeois piece and then they brought her out in a wheel chair.

After the thing, you disappeared and I was looking for you because you had my camera and I wanted a photo op with Louise. She had on these pink clogs that were like elevator shoes… somehow, I put them on and then I saw you in the distance in a parking lot. I said to Louise that I’d be right back. I was calling your name but you didn’t hear me, and I was running through the parking lot screaming your name. Louise was then chasing after me in her wheel chair trying to get her shoes back, I really wish there were services from the Lifestyle Home Lift every where she goes, that way she wouldn’t struggle that much.
.

And then I woke up.”

Gail and Geoffrey’s Excellent Gay Pride Adventure!

Wonder Woman Costume from Met Superheroes Exhibit

This weekend was Gay Pride here in NYC, and Geoffrey and I celebrated by having a ridiculously fun Sunday adventure that will heretofore be known as “The Gayest Day Ever.” Just because it sounds more fun that way!

First, I picked up Geoffrey at his apartment and we traveled uptown by train and bus (experiencing excellent Mass Transit Karma) to 5th Avenue and 82nd street, arriving at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Unless you have ADD, you might recall that I have already blogged about The Met at least three times in the past week, because it is so awesome. Our first stop at the Met was to hit the roof garden for my second viewing in three days of the Jeff Koons sculpture exhibit, Koons on the Roof. Urban Field Trip of the Week: Ikea!

Ikea!

Today Geoffrey and I had a very exciting adventure together when we hauled our tight little asses out to Redhook, Brooklyn and spent a couple of hours wandering around in a daze inside the gargantuan new Ikea that opened just last Wednesday. It was so much fun! Here’s what I came back to the city with:

4 Black 20-inch square throw pillows

1 Multi-colored rag rug for my kitchen floor

1 Vanilla candle in reusable glass holder

1 Lint roller

Total cost for all this loot: $20!!

Gee wiz, what a bargain! I will be returning to Ikea again and again!

Cheap and Awesome Cuban Food Returns to Chelsea!

CUBAN FOOD ROCKS

“Oh, oh, I love it so…”

When Havana Chelsea closed last summer for “remodeling,” Geoffrey and I mourned and pouted for months that our favorite Cuban food diner/dive was lost to us forever. During our extended grieving process, we dined several times at the also-good-and-considerably-more-gay-friendly Cuba Cafe just a few blocks up the street, but the trade-off in ambiance/gayness/liquor license versus super low cost/actual taste of the food just didn’t cut it. We were ever so saddened.
