I am a big fan of the work of maverick architect Frank Lloyd Wright; this much is no secret. When I was in Chicago in the Spring of 2010, I had the chance to take the train out to the suburb of Oak Park, where I toured Wright’s own family home and studio as well as a dozen or so other residences designed by Wright that still exist in that neighborhood. Wow, what a cool way to spend an afternoon is all I can say. Frank Lloyd Wright!

The Great Summer Zoofari: A LEGO® Wildlife Expedition at the Bronx Zoo

LEGO Flamingos at the Bronx Zoo

Here at the Worley Gig, we love visiting the Zoo and we also love things made out of LEGOS, so it makes sense that we are excited to tell you about some super fun activities going on this summer at the Bronx Zoo. Through September 30, 2011, the Zoo will be celebrating Zoofari, with awesome life-size LEGO Animal Displays throughout the park (as seen in the pictures on this post), plus LEGO Activity Stations where you can make stuff, and all kinds of other fun features and activities taking place all over the zoo. It should be a pretty “wild” time!

Full details of all Zoofari highlights are available from the Bronx Zoo’s official website at This Link. You can also buy slightly-discounted tickets online at Right Here. Zoofari!

LEGO Conan O’Brien

LEGO Brick artist extraordinaire, Nathan Sawaya made this life size statue of late night talk show host Conan O’Brien for an unnamed commission. I think it is pretty awesome!

Here I am looking large in my many layers of outerwear posing with LEGO Brick artist Nathan Sawaya and one of his amazing sculptures that you can see now at the Agora Gallery on West 25th Street. Nathan’s current exhibit, Red, is up until December 14th, 2010 so make sure to see it while you can!

Pink Thing Of The Day: Pink LEGO Motorcycle Ridden By Miss Piggy!

A Hog On A Hog

LEGO sculptures sure are a hot item lately. LEGO fetishist website Brothers Brick just posted pictures of a super detailed figure of Miss Piggy riding a motorcycle that goes a long way towards showing you the limitless creative possibilities when you have box of LEGOs and an imagination. Brothers Brick also has additional links to a commentary page on the Miss Piggy figure as well as a well-documented construction journal with detailed photos showing the building process. According to the site, Piggy’s motorcycle “is the most pink I’ve seen in a fan-built creation.” Nice!
