With a little knowledge of the three dimensions of color—hue, value and chroma — you can craft a personalized and flattering color palette for your wardrobe and makeup choices.
Knowing your undertone – warm, cool or neutral– is the first step to color harmony with your skin, hair and eyes.
The 12-season color system provides a more nuanced method of finding your dream palette, matching your characteristics with one of the subtypes for added accuracy.
Though sticking to your season makes styling easier, taking coordinating colors from neighboring seasons makes your wardrobe more versatile.
Crafting a wardrobe around your seasonal palette of course extends to styling — from choosing head-to-toe core neutrals, to statement colors, to accent pieces.
When you apply your seasonal color analysis to everyday life — makeup, accessories, hair color choices — you can look simply stunning.
Pink Jungle: 1950s Makeup in America was a pop-up exhibit that happened in late 2020 (mid-pandemic!) at a temporary location of the Makeup Museum across the street from the Whitney. While I could never quite distill the essence of my visit into a full post, it did yield a few fun Pink Things, such as this promotional poster, which I’m sure you’ll agree is quite fantastic

Next, observe the walls of the room, which are the loveliest shade of soft millennial pink. This tree was spotted in the Hollywood Museum, located in a building whose pink walls hint at this space’s original occupant. If you are intrigued by the history of Makeup, love things that are Pink — and you also crave an out-of-the-house adventure before NYC imposes its next Covid Lockdown (because you know it’s coming) — you can head on over to the newly-opened Makeup Museum (which is a thing that exists) for its debut exhibit entitled Pink Jungle: 1950s Makeup in America. Pink Jungle explores the Makers and Muses of that decade through fascinating and never-before-seen beauty artifacts, and the museum features other makeup-themed exhibits as well. I’ve already booked my visit and will be posting on that very Pink experience in the upcoming weeks!
The Makeup Museum: Pink Jungle is Located at 94 Gansevoort Street, Accross from the Whitney Museum in NYC’s Meatpacking District. ‘Never Take a Break From Looking Great’ is the fun tagline for Intermission Beauty, a cosmetics line I discovered while visiting BroadwayCon in late January. The line was created by Douglas Otero, a singer, dancer and actor-turned celebrity makeup artist who wanted to create a line of fabulous lipsticks. Douglas also wanted to team-up with Broadway’s finest stars, and bring awareness to the cause of preventing animal cruelty. Continue reading Intermission Beauty Products Put the Spotlight On You→
