Happy New Year 2018 From NYC!

Ceramic sculptor Toby Buonagurio, the studio coordinator and sculpture director of Stony Brook’s Department of Art, is known for her colorful ceramic sculptures and innovative designs. The New York New Year’s Eve tile above is part of  Times Square Times: 35 Times,  a permanent public artwork commissioned from Buonagurio by the MTA Arts for Transit. It is permanently installed in illuminated presentation windows embedded in the shiny new glass block station walls throughout the Times Square – 42nd Street Subway Station in the heart of New York City. The artworks are owned by the MTA New York City Transit.

Hey Everybody! Welcome to the very last day of 2012. It was a pretty good year for me here at The Gig, despite a devastating midsummer hack job to this fair site — from which we emerged even stronger and more popular — and a brief displacement of domicile due to Hurricane Sandy. In fact, I just returned late last evening from a ten day vacation in Southern California celebrating one of my favorite Christmas holidays in recent memory, so I am definitely wrapping up the year on a high note. Thanks for your readership over the past 364 days and here’s to all good things ahead in 2013! Cheers!

10. Ryan Seacrest ceases to appear in all visual media so I never have to look at the insipid mug of this talentless hack ever again.

9. People of the Earth adopt the philosophy of Zero Population Growth so we can start to repair some of the damage we’ve done to our planet before it’s too late.
