The thing about being an Art Lover in NYC is that you don’t even have to go to a museum or gallery to see art, because art is literally everywhere. Geoffrey and I were walking East on West 50th Street on our way to MOMA and we passed this crazy Red Horse Head. We just had to stop and admire it, because it was part of an even larger, street-exposed display of sculptures and plants and very interesting things that you see below.

RIP Legendary Rock Photographer Jim Marshall

Legendary rock and roll photographer Jim Marshall died in his sleep Tuesday night (March 23rd). He was 74. Marshall is best known for his iconic shots of Jimi Hendrix burning his guitar at Monterey Pop, The Who greeting the sunrise at Woodstock and Johnny Cash flipping the bird at San Quentin. He was chief photographer at Woodstock and was the only photographer allowed backstage at The Beatles’ final concert. Marshall had a special affinity with rock and roll artists, as he said himself, “I see the music.”

F*ck The Snow

Right now, we’re in the early stages of a full on blizzard here in NYC. Normally, I’d be all about the snow. But  today is one of the busiest holiday travel days of the year. So I say, “Fuck the Snow.” American Airlines has already canceled my 2:15 flight to Burbank and if I’m very lucky I’ll make it out on a flight leaving after 8:00 PM tonight, getting me in to LAX around Midnight. At least it’s a direct flight. Now . . . if it  can just get out of NYC I’ll be happy, and snow will be off my shit list.
