This event is going on today, May 19, 2012, in Union Square NYC. Festivities start at 11:00 AM so get your ass to Union Square if you are in the mood for a party!
Rob Pruitt’s really awesome Andy Warhol Monument statue has been up at the intersection of 17th Street and Broadway since March of this year. The statue stands just a few yards from one of two former addresses of Warhol’s (in)famous Factory Studio. During the time I’ve lived in NYC (23 or so years) that same location has housed two nightclubs (Area and the short-lived Palace De Beaute), a porn shop and a Petco, which is what it is now. You can visit the statue, and marvel at its shininess, until they take it down on October 2, 2011.
Union Square Park Holiday Market is an annual outdoor crafts fair that takes place at the South end of Union Square Park bordered by 14th Street, Union Square West and Broadway. The market is open during the hours of 11 AM to 8 PM, every day from Black Friday through Christmas Eve, and features hundreds of widely varied crafts of every kind. It gets pretty crowded, and shopping outdoors in December can present a unique thrill on its own, but it’s a great place to do your Holiday shopping – especially if you have friends who appreciate a truly unusual and creative gift.
Looks like a bit of a “Pillow War” to Me
Is it just me, or does this Saturday’s Pillow Fight NYC to be held in Union Square look like a hundred potential personal injury lawsuits just waiting to happen?
