In 1985, John Baldassari began using dots to obscure faces, which became one of his most recognizable devices. By removing the distinguishable features, Baldassari turns the figure into an archetype. In Buildings, Guns, People: Desire, Knowledge, and Hope (with Smog) includes dot-covered faces in generic photographs from political and social functions, turned on their sides.

Giants By Os Gemeos on Granville Island
Granville Island is a tourist destination populated with specialty shops, food markets and art galleries that’s accessible via a short ferry ride from the Vancouver waterfront. It was there that I stumbled upon this monumental work of public art locked away behind the security fences at Ocean Concrete. I immediately recognized the larger-than-life mural, entitled Giants, as the creation of one of my favorite street artist duos, Brazilian twin brothers Gustavo and Otávio Pandolfo a.k.a. Os Gemeos. Piggies #69 By Seunghwui-Koo
Anyone who knows me knows that I love Pigs. The above photo shows just a small section of a wall sculpture called Piggies #69 from artist Seunghwui-Koo, which I spotted in the both for Paris-based Singulart Gallery at the recent Affordable Art Fair. According to the artist, the little pig figurines are symbolic of all people, with the bright colors and tiny patterns on each representing the many different kinds of people.
