Hey what’s up? Do you like to go to the gym and work out and stuff like that? If so, then you might already be familiar with the Lenny & Larry’s brand of cookies and brownies.

Lenny and Larry Complete Cookie 1

While Lenny & Larry’s Complete Cookies and Muscle Brownies come in undeniably indulgent flavors to satisfy a sweet craving, this line of quality baked goods are actually good for you, being rich in protein and fiber, vegan, and made with only all natural ingredients. They also provide a quality energy boost, or small meal replacement that will satisfy your hunger between proper meals.

Lenny and Larry Complete Cookie 3

The Complete Cookie comes in eight popular flavor varieties including Oatmeal Raisin, Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate Macadamia Nut, Pumpkin Spice, Lemon Poppy Seed, Double Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter and their newest flavor, Snickedoodle. Each cookie contains 16 grams of protein (wow!), 6 grams of fiber, and 0 grams of trans fat.

Lenny and Larry CChip Cookie

And just look at this cookie, it’s huge! I could only eat half, but I wrapped the other half and ate it for dessert!

Protein Brownie on Plate

Lenny & Larry’s Muscle Brownies come in three tempting flavors: Triple Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, and Peanut Butter — all packed with 20 grams of high quality protein, and fresh-baked taste in every bite!

Muscle Brownie Ala Mode

Of course, you can always go a little crazy and throw a scoop of ice cream on top to make a brownie sundae!

Lenny & Larry’s sent me a very generous shipment of Muscle Brownies and Complete Cookies to try for this review, and it was certainly many more than I could eat in a reasonable amount of time, I had to pay for the shipment only but I calculated the dimensional weight ahead of time and it wasn’t much, so I brought a stash into the office to share with my coworkers. Many of them already knew the brand from seeing the Muscle Brownies their at the gym snack bar, and everybody just went insane over the cookies, which were gone in no time. And if that is not an endorsement you can trust, what is?

Krusteaz Gluten Free Double Chocolate Brownie Mix

Krusteaz Box
All Photos By Gail

Everyone probably has a memory of brownies baked at home: helping Mom with the mixing and getting to lick the spoon, then enjoying the tempting chocolate aroma filling the kitchen as they baked, waiting impatiently for them to be done and – at last – biting into that still warm chewy chocolate brownie. Ahh, you know you can almost taste them now.

If you enjoy eating fresh baked goods but really need to keep the bake-at-home preparation simple, then you are going to love Krusteaz brand Gluten Free Double Chocolate Brownie Mix, which will be in stores in late August/ early September! Krusteaz sent us over a box for review and I baked them this past weekend. It was so easy and the results were beyond my expectations.

Krusteaz Ready to Bake

This is all you will need to have on hand:

1 egg
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/3 cup water

Krusteaz Back of Box

The instructions are so simple a child could do it. Seriously, it is impossible to mess it up.

Krusteaz from Oven

Baking times suggest 48 – 52 minutes for a metal pan and five minutes longer for a glass pan. My oven is ancient and runs a little hot, so I opted for 48 minutes and they still got a little “brown” around the edges. I just cut that part off. No harm, no foul.

Krusteaz Finished Product

Take a look at the finished product: moist, chewy, and super chocolaty with tons of real chocolate chips in the mix! You would never know this is a Gluten Free Brownie because it lacks for nothing with regard to taste and texture. With Krusteaz you can have delicious home-baked Brownies in about an hour.

Dorian Grey Gallery Presents Walter Robinson Indulgences

Walter Robinson Indulgences Exhibit Signage
All Photos by Gail

Dorian Grey Gallery in the East Village hosted an informal brunch today to promote its current exhibit, Indulgences, works on paper and recent paintings by New York artist Walter Robinson. As you might infer from the show’s title, Indulgences includes paintings of sweets and fast food favorites, pharmaceuticals and alcohol. The show also includes a selection of celebrity portraits, nudes and romance novel covers, but I didn’t feel compelled to shoot pictures of any of that stuff, so, you know, just go to the gallery and check it out.

True Cigs and Heineken Beer

Someone standing next to me in the gallery asked me if they even make True Cigarettes anymore. I said I have no idea, because I don’t smoke.

Diner Food Triptych

I like this triptych of Diner food favorites, especially the Cheeseburger Deluxe. Mmm… Cheeseburger.

Pancakes

Looking at this painting of a Stack of Pancakes made me very hungry.

Table of Snacks

Who knew you could work up such an appetite just from looking at Art? Fortunately, Dorian Grey Gallery provided some snacks and beverages.

McDonalds French Fries

McDonalds Large Size French Fries
are indeed a masterpiece.

Burger Trio

A trio of Hamburgers. I believe the one on the far right is a Whopper.

Pastries

My mouth is watering just uploading my photos to this post.

Plate of Brownies

These Brownies look Delicious.

Stack of Money

This art made me think: I wonder how much money is in this stack of cash, and are all the bills ones, or just the top bill. Art!

Gallery Shot

Indulgences will be on Exhibit Through March 31st, 2013 at Dorian Grey Gallery, Located at 437 East Ninth Street (Just West of Avenue A) in NYC. Gallery Hours are Tuesday – Sunday, Noon to 7:00 PM.

The Bake Sale

Tell me this video (by comedy troupe Awkward Spaceship) wouldn’t have made a great episode of the SNL skit Goth Talk.

Rad Website of the Day: Bastard Brownies!

Do you like to eat delicious, chocolaty brownies? I sure do. Mmmm, brownies. Yummy. But I really don’t like to have to bake them myself, for reasons I’d rather not go into here. If you are like me, the ideal situation is, of course, to either live with your Mom (not really an option), or find a good bakery and buy your brownie supply from that particular vendor. Here’s another question: do you like to help people? I like to help people. A lot of my friends are “enjoying” the unemployed lifestyle in these interesting times, and I’m reminded that those of us who are fortunate enough to earn a steady paycheck should maybe throw a little cash and /or kindness in the direction of those in need. It’s just the right thing to do. This combination of loving both brownies and selfless acts of charity brings me to The Worley Gig’s Rad Website of the Day: Bastard Brownies. Run by a lady who calls herself Meg, Bastard Brownies was created as a home business so Meg could earn some extra cash to make payments on the house her asshole fiancé left her with when he dumped her for the coffee barista down the block. Gee whiz, what a dick. Anyway, Meg tells the story better than I do, so you can read all about the asshole ex-fiancé whom she is most definitely better off without at this link. But anyway, Meg’s home-baked Bastard Brownies come in a variety of mouthwatering flavors, including the signature “Bastard” Brownie (The brownie with everything in it!) described below:

Chocolate chunks = His Heart of Coal
Walnuts = The small penis that I put up with for 6 ½ years!
Marshmallow = Mush. How his life will ultimately end up
Caramel Topping = How easily he slipped away

You can see Meg kept her sense of humor, which is so important. But what is even more important is that these brownies sound fucking awesome. Brownie lovers out there, help a sister out and order a batch of delicious Bastard Brownies right now!
