Review: MiiRo Low-Sugar Baking Products and Treats

The most significant changes in life are often unplanned. During the pandemic lockdown, I was able to lose 10 to 12 pounds and have miraculously kept it off for the past two years. Weight loss for a not-super-active woman of my age (who, let’s be honest, loves food) is a big deal.  Encouraged by this wildly unexpected accomplishment, I made some changes to my lifestyle that I wouldn’t have considered in the comfy ‘before times,’ like walking distances that are under, say, two miles, and eating salads for lunch instead cheeseburgers and fries. I’m also making smarter choices when it comes to sweet snacks, like reaching for a low sugar treat when I need a bit of an indulgence. This is probably how I ended up on radar of MiiRo, a woman-owned company making vegan-friendly, low-sugar chocolates and baking products that don’t sacrifice flavor. All good. Pink Thing of The Day: Birthday Cake Flavored Skinny Syrups

File Under: Yes, It Exists! I’m not one to worry much about counting calories, so I would likely never have even looked for something called Skinny Syrups, but this was a gift — and what a gift at that! The friend who gifted this pretty pink bottle of Jordan’s Birthday Cake-flavored Syrup to me knows that I adore anything that has to do with Birthday Cake (or the flavor thereof) and the fact that it is my favorite color is, as they say, the icing on the cake!

I have started sweetening my morning coffee with two teaspoons of this stuff and, man, is it ever scrumptious. And it has zero calories! Anyway, you can put this syrup on or in anything that you want to sweeten without adding any additional calories but instead adding the flavor of Birthday Cake. Win Win!

Product Review: Brooklyn Bites Thin Cookie Brittle

Brooklyn Bites Packages 2
Photos By Gail (Click on Any Image to Enlarge for Detail)

The holidays may be a few weeks behind us but, if you’re like me, the extra pounds gained from indulging in many (many) delicious treats still remain! The only way to take off the post-holiday fluff is to bump-up the exercise regimen and cut calories, which means feeling deprived — and that is never fun. But don’t despair: let me introduce you to Brooklyn Bites Thin Cookie Brittle, a line of sweet treats that are not only ridiculously low in calories (between 80  – 110 per serving!), but they’re made with decadent, premium quality ingredients and are actually good for you. Just being serious!

Brooklyn Bites Packages 1

Brooklyn Bites Thin Cookie Brittle was created by a mom and daughter duo who share a mutual love for baking and healthy eating. They had a mission to upgrade their cookies with the healthiest, most heart-friendly ingredients available. By default, their cookie became a brittle, which was so thin, crunchy, crispy and delicious that their healthy treats were an instant hit. Over the years, these ladies never lost sight of their goal to deliver the most wholesome and premium products while never sacrificing on taste or quality. All Brooklyn Bites products are still hand-made in Brooklyn with artisan quality ingredients!

Cinnamon Coffee Cake

Brooklyn Bites Thin Cookie Brittle comes in six tempting varieties with on-trend flavor profiles to please every taste: Chocolate Lovers Delight, White Chocolate Brownie, Crunchy Creamy Pretzel, Chocolate Nutty Sea Salt, Coco Crispy Rice, and (my favorite) Cinnamon Coffee Cake.

It is no secret that I have a day job in a large office and that I sit with an enthusiastic team who never stops talking about food. When I received a huge shipment of Brooklyn Bites Thin Cookie Brittle to review for the ‘Gig, I brought a couple of bags into the office to share with my coworkers, and everyone went insane for them. I am not even fan of cinnamon flavored anything, but the Cinnamon Coffee Cake variety blew by mind with its crispy texture, gingerbread-reminiscent cookie and drizzle of sweet icing that pulled everything together. Best part: a serving of four (4) cookies totals just 80 calories! Anyone can afford to indulge and not go off even the strictest diet.

Chocolate Lovers Delight

For chocolate purists, the Chocolate Lovers Delight has a not-too-sweet chocolate taste that gets kicked up a notch by a drizzle of rich chocolate icing . There is no guilt when it’s only 90 calories per four-cookie serving!

Product Review: Weight Watchers Divine Triple Chocolate Bars

Divine Triple Chocolate Bars
Photos By Gail

OK, everybody loves chocolate ice cream, amiright? I think I may be, so it makes sense that Weight Watchers Divine Triple Chocolate Bars are one of the company’s best-selling and most popular flavors of all of their frozen ice cream treats. When I enjoy these bars from my own home freezer, I am overcome with a wave of nostalgia for the classic Fudgsicle® that I enjoyed so much as kid.

Divine Triple Chocolate Bar Unwrapped

See how Divine Triple Chocolate Bars even improve on the Fudgsicle by adding not only a swirl of rich fudge inside the delicious, low fat ice cream, but also by dipping the top half of the bar in milk chocolate! Because, “These bars are too chocolaty!” said no one ever.

Offered in a package of 6, each individually wrapped bar has a value 3 Points Plus, contains only 110 calories, 4.5 grams of fat and 0 grams of trans fat. Find out where you can buy Weight Watchers Divine Triple Chocolate Bars and other tasty Weight Watchers products at This Link!

Product Review: Weight Watchers Dark Chocolate Raspberry Ice Cream Bars

Dark Chocolate Raspberry

Maybe it’s the kid in me who still remembers the excitement of buying a frozen treat from the neighborhood Ice Cream Truck, but the convenience of having a box of ice cream bars stashed in my freezer still makes me feel special. I recently opened a box of Weight Watchers Dark Chocolate Raspberry Ice Cream Bars and am enjoying their understated excellence on so many levels. Please allow me to share.

Raspberry is one of my favorite flavors for almost any kind of dessert, and the low-fat ice cream inside these bars manages to capture the essence of fresh raspberry taste without being tart or sour at all.  In other words, don’t expect them to taste similar to a fruity sorbet, because this frozen treat offers pure, sweet and smooth ice cream taste all the way. I also love the thin coating of dark chocolate that adds a light crispness to each bite.  As is the case with the Weight Watchers Salted Caramel Ice Cream Candy Bars, the photo on the box makes each bar appear to be a foot long, but in reality each measures about 4.5 inches, so they are a perfect lite snack or a reward for “Being Good” with your points! I am thinking of having one right now!

Each box contains 12 bars, so you can indulge for more than a week before you have to head back to the grocery store for another box! These uniquely delicious bars are only 90 calories, 10 grams of fat and 0 grams trans fat each! The best part is that each bar counts as just 2 Weight Watchers Points Plus.
