Who doesn’t love a good throne? I wasn’t expecting to encounter three fabulous hot-pink throne chairs when I visited the Summer Fancy Food Show in June, but there they were, presiding over the Diva Delights‘ booth like the seating area of a very glamorous destination.
This cookie brand went all-in on its diva theme, creating a sleek black-and-gold booth complete with crystal drop lighting fixtures, a dramatic gold-and-black logo backdrop, a jeweled-pen giveaway and these spectacular Pink-and-Gold High-Back Throne Chairs. Every now and then, Trader Joe’s sneaks something onto the shelves that looks innocent enough—until you bring it home and realize you’ve developed a full emotional attachment to it. Their Dress Circle (meaning fancy!) Crispy Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies are exactly that kind of snack.
Sold in a generous one-pound tub (yes, a full pound), these tiny cookies somehow manage to feel both adorable and dangerously addictive. I didn’t stop to count them, but the container claims around 200 cookies, which feels accurate based on how often I keep reaching back in for “just one more.” The best part? They genuinely taste homemade—like the kind of perfectly crisp, buttery little cookies you wish you could bake yourself if only your patience extended to making cookies the size of quarters. Empire Cake bakery in the West Village once again proves it has its finger on the pulse of pop culture (I saw that LabubuCake in the window) with a batch of sugar cookies celebrating the release of Taylor Swift’s Life of a Showgirl album. When I stopped in over the weekend, they were  offering two designs: one features the album cover art with Taylor decked out in an alluring, bejeweled  showgirl costume,  and another is shaped like a vinyl record, frosted in swirls of bright orange icing with the album’s label in the center. Whether you’re a Swiftie or just someone who appreciates a well-dressed cookie, these sweet treats are pure pop-star perfection.
