Mention Yoko Ono’s name and chances are you’ll get a reaction. For many people, she’s still remembered more for the myths that surround her than for her art — whether it’s the persistent claim that she broke up The Beatles or strong opinions about her famously experimental music.
The Broad’s Music of the Mind, the first major museum retrospective of Ono’s work in Los Angeles, does an excellent job of moving past those preconceptions. Instead, it invites visitors to experience her as one of the most inventive conceptual artists of the last century, revealing an artist whose ideas have been far more influential than many people realize.

99% of the time, Yoko Ono is a subject that just takes too long to talk about. Whether you love her or hate her, few would deny that Ono is one of the more polarizing Pop Culture figures of the past fifty years. Most people likely know her as John Lennon’s second wife, as well as his primary post-Beatles artistic/musical partner, and have probably based their opinion on the couple’s various collaborations — which are quite well known. But before Yoko Ono even met John Lennon, she was a groundbreaking visual artist whose extremely unique and original ideas about what constitutes a viable work of ‘Art’ were fucking with people’s heads. In a week that includes not only the events of New York Fashion Week but also Valentines Day and My Birthday, it goes without saying that we will be doing a lot of drinking. Since February is also National Grapefruit Month, we are going to feature some Pink Grapefruit flavored cocktail recipes today made with Sparking ICE, one of our favorite zero calorie mixers. Enjoy!
Pink Grapefruit Sparkler (Pictured Above)
Ingredients:
2 oz. Pink Grapefruit Sparkling ICE
3 oz. white wine, preferably Moscato
Mint leaves for garnish
Directions:
Pour white wine over ice.
Top with Pink Grapefruit Sparkling ICE. Garnish with mint leaves.

February 22nd is National Margarita Day, in case no one hipped you to that fact. Also, did you have any idea that the Margarita is the Number 1 cocktail drink in the US? I sure didn’t, as I am a Martini gal, myself. Still, I am not adverse to the occasional frozen fruit margarita (peach or mango being my favorite varieties) when the occasion presents itself. The recipe below might be a fun one to try out while relaxing at home this evening, and you don’t even need a blender! Ole!
