Monday morning, with zero warning or valid cause, Facebook deleted 99% of the posted content on the two fan pages I’d been maintaining on that platform (one for more than a decade) in order to promote this blog’s content to my fans and friends. To add insult to injury, they also deleted every post on my personal page that linked to content on Worleygig.com, thus completely obliterating my creative presence on Facebook.

It is appropriate that we were on our way to eat after checking out Beyond The Streets, when we passed right by this Warby Parker eyewear store, the exterior of which just happens to be completely covered with the distinctive artwork of Stephen Powers (aka ESPO), whose work we had seen in the exhibit!
The attention-grabbing two-story mural by the graffiti and sign-painting legend (which covers all four sides of the building) makes the store very easy to spot from a distance! We didn’t go in, but I understand that Powers contributed to the store’s interior decor as well.

Creating cool, modern furniture from upcycled car parts is not an entirely new idea, but in this case there is a unique motivation behind the design. This fun and funky Side Chair and Cocktail Table — which incorporate discarded car tires and refinished bike wheels — is by Xtreme Upcycle, a small business whose proprietors have a deep social conscience behind everything they produce.

Today March 9th, 2019, marks the 60th Anniversary of the introduction of the world’s most famous fashion doll, known to us simply as Barbie. In honor of this lovely icon of pop culture, I dug up a set of photos I took earlier this year that I have dubbed the Golden Barbie Street Art Shrine, even thought it has less to do with Barbie than it does with the mission of NYC street artist Hispano Man (@hispanoman).
