Halloween may still be 9 months away, but I couldn’t resist giving kudos to a woman who gives the task of coming up with an original costume its due. Aside from the fact that her “blood-drenched cleavage” is the most eye-grabbing part of this photo (for some of us, anyway) you gotta appreciate the loving attention to detail she’s given her Zombie McDonalds Worker costume, from the authentic-looking “McDeath” logo embroidered on the cap to her tray of dismembered “Finger Fries” – she is dressed to kill, and then some!
“McRib is People.” That’s what my friends and I used to say about McDonalds’ boneless McRib sandwich when it first appeared back in the ’70s. McDonalds just announced that they’re bringing the McRib back to selected restaurants as a limited-time promotion, but I can’t imagine who would want to eat this thing.
A few nights ago, I went out to grab a burger with my friend Ike (not his real name). Since we were practically starving for delicious burger meat, and because it’s so close to where I live, we decided to hit up Royale Bar on Avenue C near 10th Street. This is a Lamp Illuminated Philippe Starck Bubble Chair By Tobias Wong
Designer and fine contemporary artist, Tobias Wong, passed away on May 30th from an apparent suicide, but for some reason I didn’t hear about his death until today. Tobias Wong was known for outrageous send ups of luxury goods and humorous appropriation of work by other designers or businesses – such as McDonald’s Restaurants – which blurred the line between conceptual art and design. He first gained the attention of the design press in 2001 when he turned a Philippe Starck Bubble Club chair into the lamp pictured above.
A Saturday or Sunday in Manhattan usually means one thing: Geoffrey and I will be having an Urban Adventure. It does not matter if it is freezing cold outside and the sidewalks are still crusted with snow and ice. We will bundle up and venture out onto the streets of New York to discover fun new things to experience here in our fair city, because that is how we roll.
