Dorian Grey Gallery in the East Village hosted an informal brunch today to promote its current exhibit, Indulgences, works on paper and recent paintings by New York artist Walter Robinson. As you might infer from the show’s title, Indulgences includes paintings of sweets and fast food favorites, pharmaceuticals and alcohol. The show also includes a selection of celebrity portraits, nudes and romance novel covers, but I didn’t feel compelled to shoot pictures of any of that stuff, so, you know, just go to the gallery and check it out.

McDonalds Cheese Katsu Burger
The Katsu Burger from McDonalds in Japan contains a fried pork cutlet stuffed with cheese, topped with cabbage and sweet and sour sauce. It looks like it has mayonnaise on it, too. I want to eat it.

Bring Me The Head of Ronald McDonald
This statue of a young man holding the severed head of beloved, iconic fast-food mascot Ronald McDonald can be found in Venice, Italy, though I haven’t yet been able to dig up any information on the statue’s exact location or artist. I love how it sends a strong anti-McDonald’s message through the appropriation of the famous statue of Perseus holding the head of Medusa, as seen in the image below. Extreme, yes. Hilarious, also yes. But no amount of over-the-top “McDonald’s is Evil” propaganda will ever keep me away from a tasty Filet O’Fish when the craving strikes.
