GoldenBoy By Jeff Bark at Hasted Kraeutler

Let the Homoeroticism Begin! (All Photos By Gail)
Jeff Bark’s newest body of work, an exhibition of new photographs he calls GOLDENBOY (now at Hasted Kraeutler), instantly appealed to both Geoffrey and me, but for entirely different reasons. Geoffrey was wildly smitten by the bare-chested hottie who is the subject of half of the photos in the exhibit.
I was more intrigued, however, by the moody, lost-weekend vibe of the yellow-hued still life scenes, and the recreation of what I correctly took to be a southern California backyard – mostly because it reminded me so much of the backyard of my own childhood home located in Orange County.

Pink Thing of The Day: Pink Gingerbread Shop
Here at The Worley Gig, we are always on the hunt for cool Pink Things to bring our readers, and here is a good one. The Yucaipa-based Gingerbread Shop was spotted by me a few days after Christmas at downtown Riverside’s Festival of Lights, where they’ve parked for at least the last three years. Gilbert and George BillBoard at The High Line
The newest commissioned artwork for the High Line Billboard just went up on September 3rd. This installation is a boldly-colored, stained glass-inspired Gilbert & George painting called Waking. The controversial art duo appear in the painting (from 1984) three times in the very center of the image and are surrounded on both sides by various male figures and faces. This photo was taken at approximately 7 PM, so you can see the sun is already starting to set, but this was the best I could do as I am not in this neighborhood very often.
Gilbert & George: Waking will be up through October 1st, 2013 in a parking lot adjacent to the The High Line, at West 18th Street and 10th Avenue in Manhattan.
