For this weeks’ Video Clip, we have an amazing discovery with The Garden, a garage rock duo with both punk and goth leanings made up of 19-year-old identical twin hotties Wyatt and Fletcher Shears. You know that I am way past the stage where I am swayed by a pretty face, but these guys have so much more going for them than the model-quality good looks that won them an Yves Saint Laurent ad campaign with zero effort on their part. Most importantly, their music does not suck! With just bass (Wyatt) and drums (Fletcher), they manage to conjure the dark recesses of Bauhaus Meets Iggy Pop, and who could find fault with that? Answer: no one.

Punk: Chaos to Couture at The Metropolitan Museum of Art
“Photography Not Allowed” (All Stealth Photos By Gail)
Thanks to a special allowance for the Memorial Day Holiday, The Met ended up being open on Monday and Geoffrey and I were able to head to the scenic upper west side on a very gorgeous, sunny day to check out the much ballyhooed fashion exhibit, Punk: Chaos to Couture. Photography is not allowed in the exhibit, which is a huge drag, but I was able to sneak in a few “stealth snaps” while the vigilant Art Nazis were distracted by other things, so please excuse the poor quality of my shots for this post as I was shooting in the dark with no flash! Punk Rock!

Captain Sensible (Born Raymond Burns), sometimes bassist, sometimes lead guitarist for original British Punk Rockers The Damned, was born on this day, April 23rd, in 1955. The Decline of Western Civilization
On This Date, April 2nd in 1981: The Penelope Spheeris-directed Punk Rock Documentary, The Decline Of Western Civilization debuted in Southern California. Capturing the ferocity of the thriving and wildly influential LA and Orange County Punk music scene, Decline featured live performances from Black Flag, The Circle Jerks, Fear, Alice Bag Band, X, Catholic Discipline and The Germs, whose now long-deceased lead singer, Darby Crash graces the movie poster. Many of the film’s live performance scenes were shot at The Fleetwood, a cavernous live music venue near the pier in Redondo Beach, which I believe was formerly home to a Bowling Alley or Skate Rink.
