Editor Showcase Presents Snack Attack 2017: The Photo Recap!

Hi Chew Candy and Fruit
All Photos By Gail

Do you like to Snack? I sure do. For many of us, snacking choices are all about convenience — something that’s made to ‘grab and go’ around  a busy schedule — but we also want a healthier snack that still feels like an indulgence. Sound challenging? It isn’t at all. Just a couple of weeks ago, I attended the Editor Showcase Snack Attack edition of their quarterly brand showcase, held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square, and had the chance to snack my way around the room, discovering all sorts of delicious and better-for-you snacks along the way.  From Chips and Crackers to Candy and Nuts, here are some the brands we think you’ll soon be craving.

Farmers Pantry Cornbread Crisps

Farmer’s Pantry is one of the hottest new companies to pioneer wholesome, substantial and irresistibly delicious snacks all grown on American Farms using original American Recipes. Like the name suggests, Farmer’s Pantry is passionate about creating scrumptious, hearty snacks using the kind of authentic, identifiable ingredients you would find in a farmer’s pantry! Every snack is lovingly crafted from some combination of meats, grains and vegetables.

Farmers Pantry Meal Snacks

At Snack Attack, Farmer’s Pantry debuted two new snack lines. Farmers Pantry Cornbread Crisps, available in Original, Jalapeno, Honey-Butter and new BBQ flavors, are a crispy, savory baked snack made from fresh corn and other whole grains. Farmers Pantry Meal Snacks are the only snacks on the market that combine protein-packed meat plus a side dish of vegetables, cornbread crisps or fries in one innovative package. Pictured above are the Chicken & Waffle Crisps, made with Chicken Jerky and maple waffles, and Steak’N Fries variety, made with Beef Jerky and french fries. It’s a snack revolution!

GH Cretor Popcorn

With a history dating back to 1885, G.H. Cretors Popped Corn is a line of obsessively delicious popcorn in flavors that include bold, uniquely crave-able favorites like Chile Jalapeno White Cheddar and Dill Pickle!

GH Cretor The Mix

My favorite is The Mix, a one-of-a-kind blend of rich, buttery caramel corn and premium, aged cheddar cheese corn together  in one bag, for a mouth-watering mix of sweet and salty — the taste is truly crave-able! Crafted in small batches in Waukegan, Illinois, all G.H. Cretors popcorn varieties are made with real, high-quality ingredients, using Non-GMO popcorn, and no artificial colors or flavors. Available in 9 different flavors, snackers can enjoy G.H. Cretors at home, on-the-go, or anywhere else when the craving strikes.

Good Health Snikiddy Snack Signage

If you are a lover of  chips, but grow tired of the same old potato or tortilla chips brands, Snack Attack had many alternative options to tempt your taste buds. Good Health Natural Products, Inc. is the creator of crunchy, crave-worthy snacks that make it easy to make better choices. A trailblazer in common sense snacking, Good Health’s robust portfolio of snacks are made with better-for-you ingredients, like olive and avocado oils, whole grains, sweet potatoes and vegetables – all so you can Enjoy Being Good (as their slogan implores) without sacrificing great taste!

Good Health Organic Tortilla Chips

Good Health Black Bean & Rice Organic Tortillas are dynamite with dips, guacamole and salsa, and they’re absolutely unbeatable with cheese! Serve them proudly alongside all of your homemade Mexican favorites! Their Gluten Free Pretzels are also a must-have party snack!

Snikiddy Snack Bagged Snacks

Sharing booth space with Good Health, we found the Snikiddy snack line; delicious snacks created by two moms and made from simple, wholesome, real-food ingredients. The brand recently underwent a product line upgrade and now offers organic Grilled Cheese Baked Puffs and Mac N’ Cheese Baked Puffs (both so crunchy and cheese-e-licious), plus whole grain Purple Corn Puffs, and Baked Fries, made with organic corn and sunflower oil. All Snikiddy snacks are certified Gluten Free, Kosher, Non-GMO and contain only healthful, natural ingredients.

Veggie Straws

Hain Celestial, a leading organic and natural products company, offers a selection of delicious snack options, including: Garden of Eatin’ tortilla chips made with organic corn; family-friendly Sensible Portions Garden Veggie straws and chips; and TERRA real vegetable chips.

Terra Chips Sweet Plantain Chips

I don’t know about you, but if I’m at a party and I see a bowl of  TERRA chips,  I will pick out all of the sweet potato chips and eat them myself. New at Snack Attack were two flavors of TERRA chips: Sweet Plantains and regular Plantains! Yummy!

Crunch Master Chips Display

Crunchmaster Crackers are a sturdy, bold-flavored cracker made with whole grains, seeds, and . . . that’s about it.

Crunch Master Chips Display Pumpkin Harvest

Showcasing at Snack Attack were several new Crunchmaster varieties:  Protein Snack Crackers with five grams of plant-based protein per serving,  Tuscan Peasant Crackers (perfect for topping with your favorite cheeses, spreads or tapenades), and a new seasonal flavor, Pumpkin Harvest, with a savory pumpkin flavor, which will be available in the fall — just in time for the holiday entertaining season!

Brownie Brittle

Never fear: there were plenty of sweet snacks to give the crackers and chips a run for the money! If you’re not already familiar with Sheila G’s Brownie Brittle, the crispy brownie snack, then you have some catching up to do! The Brownie Brittle family continues to expand to include new gluten free Brownie Brittle in two varieties: Dark Chocolate Sea Salt, and Chocolate Chip!

Brownie Brittle Cookie Bites

We were also introduced to (I can’t even believe I am about to type this) Brownie Brittle Cookie Bites: crisp morsels of chocolate chip cookies covered in creamy Milk Chocolate. Insane!

Teddy Soft Bakes with Sign

It may have all started with the Teddy Graham, but the Teddy brand of baked treats is about so much more.  Brand new on the shelf are Teddy Soft Bakes, fluffy, soft-baked filled treats in the fun shape of a bear. Teddy Soft Bakes are individually-wrapped, snack-size cakes with a hidden flavored filling that kids will love to discover. They can be an ideal snacking option that helps spark playful moments of discovery and natural curiosity.  Teddy Soft Bakes come in two varieties: Vanilla Cake with Chocolate Filling, and Chocolate Cake with Vanilla filling.

A perfect treat for the Back-to-School lunch box, Teddy Soft Bakes are the Bomb.

Bakerly Chocolate Crepe Snacks

If I had to choose just one item as my Favorite Thing of Snack Attack 2017, it would be Bakerly Crepes Snacks. Bakerly Crepes are made from an authentic French recipe using simple, pure ingredients like milk, eggs wheat flour, chocolate, real fruit and other natural flavors, and they are baked by artisan bakers! Once you taste them, you will have no doubt as to why Bakerly Crepes are the #1 snack in France! C’est si bon!

Bakerly Crepe Snacks

Here, we see a variety of delicious Bakerly Crepes held in the loving hands of Brand Ambassador Franck, who gave me a most generous amount of samples — including the flavors Chocolate, Strawberry, and Crunchy, featuring Crispy Rice Cereal and Chocolate Hazelnut filling — to snack on at home. Merci, Franck!

Smores Ingredients

National S’Mores Day was just celebrated on August 10th, but in case you missed it,  Snack Attack reminds us that all of the ingredient in everyone’s favorite campfire treat — a warm, toasted marshmallow and piece of milk chocolate sandwiched between to graham crackers —  can be made right in your own home, or even your own backyard! The brand trio of Honey Maid Grahams, Hershey’s Milk Chocolate and Kraft Jet-Puffed Marshmallows has named S’Mores as the Official Dessert of the BBQ! In addition to receiving one of every item  pictured on the table above, Editor Showcase attendees learned about fun and easy recipes for making S’Mores Skillet Pizza, and . . .

Bahlsen Cookies and Packaging

You may have grown accustom to seeing Bahlsen cookies around the Christmas holidays, but did you know that over 125 years, generations of the Bahlsen family have baked European cookies to be enjoyed across the globe? From their crisp butter biscuits to the indulgent chocolate selection, there is something delicious for every occasion. All Bahlsen cookie recipes are made with love, using only the very highest quality ingredients, for a truly exceptional cookie.

Bahlsen Cookies on Plate

My favorites are the Choco Leibniz (above, right) — with a lavish layer of European Milk Chocolate atop  the original Leibniz butter biscuit — and the Waffletten (above, left) made from a crunchy wafer rolled into fine, crisp layers, and then dipped into rich European chocolate (these are so great with ice cream). Don’t wait for a special occasion to serve these excellent baked goods; treat yourself and your family to a box (or two) of Bahlsen cookies right now!

Merci Chocolates Display

Do you like chocolate? I got yer chocolate right here. merci’s Finest Selection offers fine European chocolates especially chosen and packaged to give as Thank You gifts or as any gesture of sincere appreciation. Known as Europe’s famous gift-giving chocolate, merci offers something for every taste. What a great idea!!

Hi-Chew Candy

HI-CHEW Candy has long been the #1 soft candy in Japan, but it also has a large fan following in America. Sometimes, I even make a special run to my favorite Asian Import Store downtown, just to stock up on my most-addicted-to HI-CHEW flavors! Similar to a Starburst in texture (but far superior in taste), HI-CHEW is made with real fruit juice and purees, and comes in Strawberry, Green Apple, Mango, Grape, Cherry, Banana (the best!), and Melon. HI-CHEW Sours come in Lemon, Lime and Grapefruit, while new HI-CHEW Bites, offered in Grape, Strawberry, Mango, and Orange, provide your favorite HI-CHEW chewiness with a hard candy shell. Excellent!

Naturipe Fruit Snacks

Speaking of fruit, it is still a popular thing to snack on! If you are like me — loving fruit, but hating to have to take the time to peel it and cut it up, then Naturipe Fruit Snacks are going to make you very happy!

Naturipe Fruit Snacks Product

Healthy and convenient Naturipe Snacks pair fresh strawberries, blueberries, and grapes with creamy cheeses and crunchy nuts in one portable package. This better-for-you snack satisfies hunger while offering protein, fiber, Vitamin C, and calcium. Available in a six tastefully curated fruit, cheese, and nut combinations ranging from sweet to savory and mild to spicy, Naturipe Snacks are a perfect pick for nutritionally balanced ready-to-eat snacking at home and on-the-go — with no preparation time required! Yay! Naturipe Snacks offers simplified snacking for health-conscious foodies. And it makes a great, healthy After-School treat for the kids as well!

Fruit Refreshers Display

Del Monte is a trusted brand name that’s also introducing a new fruit snack.  Del Monte Fruit & Chia is a Fruit Cup snack for adults that kids may just love also. Packed with luscious chunks of real fruit and wholesome chia seeds, this is a delicious snack that will leave you feeling satisfied on-the-go.

Fruit Refreshers and Pineapple

Del Monte Fruit Refreshers combine exciting fruits with slightly sweetened Fruit Waters to create enticing flavor combinations for a refreshing pick-me-up any time of the day!

GoGo Blueberry

Cute brand mascots on the table always get my attention: the GoGo squeeZ brand had two of them! First, check out this adorable little bean-shaped Cow, representing for GoGo squeeZ YogurtZ, which brings together scrumptious real yogurt and fruit, with protein, calcium and Vitamin D. Conveniently, it’s all  packaged in the  iconic GoGo squeeZ pouch. But wait there’s more: GoGo squeeZ YogurtZ needs absolutely no refrigeration! Mind blown!

GoGo Squeez Applesauce With Apple Mascot

Also part of the GoGo squeeZ family is Applesauce On The Go, the leading squeezable, 100 percent fruit applesauce in a pouch. Look at that Little Green Apple: it’s killing me with the cuteness. With over 30 varieties of squeezable yogurt, fruit and vegetable snacks, GoGo squeeZ is a brand you need to know!

Muuna Cottage Cheese Signage

When I was a small child back in the stone age, my Mom would give me and my brother cottage cheese mixed with fruit as a snack, and we just loved it. Guess what: now those two things come already mixed together!

Muuna Cottage Cheese Display

Muuna is on a mission to change the way consumers think about cottage cheese, having re-imagined it with a new line of melt-in-your-mouth creamy, single-serve cups with delicious pieces of fruit, including Strawberry, Blueberry, Pineapple, Peach and Mango. Kill me! Each 5.3oz cup has 15 grams of protein and only 130 calories. Muuna also offers its single-serve cup in Lowfat Plain, which contains 19 grams of protein and 120 calories.

Muuna Cottage Cheese Open Container

At Snack Attack, the Muuna booth offered a selection of chopped fruit and other toppings that you could mix in with your already-mixed-together cottage cheese and fruit, but I didn’t need any of that, because I am a purist. Here is the tasty cup of Peaches and Cottage Cheese  — Just Like Mom Used to Make — that I enjoyed very much! Nostalgia!

Cheesewich Signage

Hey do you like cheese? I sure do. How cool do you think it would be to make sandwich where two slices of cheese were substituted for the bread? No carbs, no gluten – just a delicious slice of hard salami between two slices of all natural Wisconsin cheese – a Cheesewich, if you will. That’s right: somebody already thought of it, and they were at Snack Attack.

Cheesewich Display

There are a few different varieties of Cheesewich — with Provolone, Mild Cheddar or Colby Jack Cheese — so you can change it up. You could even use the Cheesewich as a filling to make a regular sandwich, if you just absolutely had to have the bread. I would never judge you.

Cheesewich Display With Bacon and Egg Snack

Cheesewich is also growing its snack product line to include other high protein, grab-and-go snacks like Mozzarella and Smoked Mozzarella String Cheeses, and a ready-to-eat Bacon N Eggs Breakfast snack, with two hard boiled eggs and two slices of turkey bacon inside an easy open pouch. Eggs-cellent!

Quinoa Meal

At Cucina & AmoreKitchen of Love, they create an old world cuisine with a modern twist. Cucina & Amore’s new ready-to-eat Quinoa Meals leave a busy person with no excuse to skip lunch, because each healthy and tasty meal is fully cooked and ready to eat! Gluten, preservative and GMO-free, these meals are jam packed with nutrients to keep you energized during your long day. Each prepackaged quinoa meal comes in a microwave-safe container, but they can also be enjoyed cold, or at room temperature, which means they are perfect to take on-the-go, or if you only have a short lunch break. Delicious, healthy and so easy!  Kitchen of Love products are available at grocery stores nationwide.

Farm Rich Table Display

Farm Rich is one of the nation’s bestselling frozen snacks and appetizers brands, offering easy-to-prepare products made with wholesome, great-tasting ingredients. I’ve been a fan for years! At Snack Attack, they introduced four new products: two sweet and two savory! (I picked up a new oven mitt as well!)

Farm Rich Donut Holes

Farm Rich Bakery Cinnamon Sugar Donut Holes offer fresh-baked taste, going directly from the freezer to the oven or microwave. They make a fun breakfast treat, served up  fresh and warm, or they can be part of these fancy fruit and donut hole skewer!  Also from Farm Rich are Blue Bakery Scones that can be on your family table in minutes! This ready-to-bake frozen scone dough is made with the finest ingredients and freshest blueberries, and it bakes into moist, tender scones, giving you fresh bakery quality in the comfort of your own home!

Two new hot appetizers from Farm Rich  include Avocado Slices, cut from premium Hass avocados and coated with an ancho chile pepper breading. These are perfect alone, or in addition to your recipes that include avocado. Try them with the included Jalapeño Ranch dipping sauce and add a little kick! This new snack that your family will love is now available in the freezer section!

Also new in the freezer section are their Pimento Cheese Bites, made with real Palmetto Pimento Cheese,  cheddar and ripe pimentos. You can enjoy these crispy coated bites right from the oven, or dunk them in the spicy Red Pepper Jelly dipping sauce, which his included. Be sure to stock up on these special treats for when company stops by!

The American Pecan Council Display

Are you nuts about nuts? Then check out what’s going on over at the The American Pecan Council (APC), who had a Pecan Buffet ready for Snack Attack attendees to sample. The pecan is one of my favorite nuts since my Mom used to put them in her home baked chocolate chip cookies! Roasted, toasted, seasoned, spiced, or sweetened with chocolate, there is no wrong add a naturally sweet and crunchy Pecan into your meals, snacks and desserts.

Food Fête Winter 2015: The Ultimate Recap!

Food Fete Signage
All Photos By Gail (Click on Any Image to Enlarge for Detail)

Food, Glorious Food Fête! Our favorite quarterly food trade show and media networking show packed the cozy Helen Mills Event Space in Chelsea on February 24th with booths showcasing sixteen innovative products ranging from Premium Organic Jarred Tomatoes to Gluten-Free Shortbread Cookies, and Vegan Meat Substitutes — all every exciting! Here are a few of our favorite products from the show!

Plum Organics Booth

The first booth we came to when we entered the show was Plum Organics — a company focusing on the nutritional needs and often finicky appetites of babies and children. Their huge display extended possibly three booth spaces, and with good reason: these folks had a lot of cool products to present! It was a chilly night and Plum Organics helped warm everyone up with their hearty and delicious Tomato and Turkey Meatball Soup.

Tomato Turkey Meatball Soup

You can see that this soup is packed with lots of tiny, ground turkey meatballs for a savory and satisfying meal that kids (and adults) will devour!

Plum Organics Go Bar

Go Bars, in tempting flavors like Chocolate Brownie and Pumpkin Banana, make a healthy after-school snack!

Plum Vida

Plum Vida is an organic, squeezable fruit and veggie blend snack created by the women of Plum, and is the company’s first product specifically for adults. At only 70 – 90 calories, with 3 grams of fiber per resealable pouch, Plum Vida is an ideal on-the-go snack. Find out more about the fine products of Plum Organics at This Link!

Challenge Butter Display

Imagine how sad it would be if you had to eliminate delicious butter from your diet due to being lactose intolerant. I don’t even want to go there. Thank goodness that Challenge Dairy has actually created “Lactose Free” Spreadable Butter, which tastes just as awesome as the real thing! This new and exciting product is enhanced with fine olive oil to maintain a smooth texture without sacrificing any rich flavor. Amazing! Challenge also debuted two new flavors of their Soft Cream Cheese Spread: Strawberry — flavored and sweetened only with fresh ripe strawberries with no sugar added — and Salsa Flavor, made with an assortment of fresh garden vegetables. Both of these cream cheese spreads were crazy delicious and perfect for snacking or serving at your next party!

Free Cows

Also, they were giving away Free Cows! Fall in love with the wonderful products of Challenge Dairy at This Link!

Muir Glenn Tomatoes

Muir Glen Organic Jarred Tomatoes make cooking all of your favorite tomato recipes  — from soups and stews to sauces and pizza — so easy!  Using only California-grown tomatoes, Muir Glen offers four unique varieties of prepared tomatoes including the sweet and smokey Diced Fire Roasted Red Tomatoes, San Marzano Style Plum Tomatoes (perfect for Italian cooking), Arabella Tomatoes, and Crushed Tomatillos (Green Tomatoes), which are so versatile especially in the preparation of Mexican Cuisine!

Bailys Coffee Creamers

Bailys Coffee Creamers bring the beloved, classic flavor of Bailys Irish Cream Liqueur to your morning coffee, but without the alcohol! Who needs Starbucks when you have this product in your pantry? Two new flavors introduced at Food Fete were Macadamia Brittle and Bourbon Vanilla Pound Cake! We also had a chance to sample tasty Macadamia Brittle cupcakes made from a recipe incorporating Bailys Creamers! Get Recipes, download money saving coupons and find out where to buy Bailys Creamers at Baileys Creamers Dot Com!

Master of Mixes

Master of Mixes Bloody Mary Mix kept the atmosphere festive by offering a custom Bloody Mary Bar featuring the Classic, Loaded, and 5 Pepper varieties of mix, each with varying level of heat to match you taste! Master of Mixes products are based on classic scratch cocktail recipes — with the goal being for their one-step cocktails to be as close as possible to the originals…or maybe even better!

Master of Mixes Gift Bag

Those who stopped by the booth received a fun gift bag including their preferred Master of Mixes variety, a Bloody Mary Glass, Tomato-shaped stress ball and lots of recipes! Learn more about Master of Mixes impressive line of cocktail mixes at This Link!

California Giant Berry Farms

It was nice to see a selection fresh fruit and produce sharing the stage with packaged and prepared foods, and the California Giant Berry Farms booth did not disappoint! Their brightly-colored, attention-grabbing display of fresh strawberries and blueberries were showcased as the featured ingredient in two very original recipes. What you see up front is fresh Strawberry Salsa (perfectly accompanied by crisp, salty tortilla strips) which is made using Strawberries, Red Onion, Jalapeno and Cilantro and spices, with no tomatoes at all! This was probably the most delicious fresh salsa I have ever tasted – get the recipe at the link below!

They also offered plates of fresh baked, insanely moist Blueberry Brownies that take this popular dessert to an entirely different level. Find out more about California Giant Berry Farms and get a ton of creative recipes by clicking over to Cal Giant Dot Com.

Walkers Shortbread Booth

Unless you live a cave, you have to be familiar with the classic Walkers Shortbread cookies — which are phenomenal. I wouldn’t have thought there was a way to improve on this popular treat, but Walkers has manged to maintain their shortbread’s outrageously buttery taste in a new gluten-free recipe that substitutes wheat flour for a blend of rice flour, maize flour and potato starch! The new, certified gluten-free line includes three new flavors: Shortbread Rounds, Ginger & Lemon Shortbread and Chocolate Chip Shortbread — which I think are the best tasting and highest quality packaged Chocolate Chip cookies you can buy in a store.

Walkers Shortbread Boxes

Walkers was founded in 1898 and is still a family owned and managed company. Visit them on the web at US Dot Walkers Shortbread Dot Com.

Sunset Produce Tomatoes

Sunset Produce featured a variety of their fresh packaged tomatoes for sampling and also had one of the most naturally colorful booths at the show!

Sunset Produce Display

Founded sixty years ago by a pioneer in the commercial greenhouse industry, Sunset is still family owned, and operated with great passion for growing and selling world-class tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. With over a dozen varieties on offer, you are not going to get bored of tasting and cooking with these fantastic fruits. We came home with some free samples as well! Find out more about Sunset Produce at Sunset Grown Dot Com.

Lindsay Olives

Do you like Olives? I sure do. But just when you think that all Olives are created equal, Lindsay Olives come along and blow your mind with their unequaled deliciousness. Holy cow, they are so excellent! These little bread rounds are topped with an insane Olive Tapanade made with Lemon Zest that was just out of control. Explore the world of Lindsay Olives, and snag that Tapanade recipe, at This Link!

Food Should Taste Good

Winning my personal award for possessing the Best Brand Name Ever, Food Should Taste Good brand makes non-GMO, gluten-free snacks and chips that, well, taste terrific! Founder Pete Lescoe created Food Should Taste Good, Inc in 2006 with the goal of making a unique new snack with great taste, real ingredients, and sophisticated flavor – the qualities he is most passionate about in food. FSTG’s MultiGrain Tortilla Chips — which we sampled at Food Fete — are absolutely habit forming and practically guilt-free at zero grams of fat!

FSTG Multi Grain and Black Bean Chips

They’ve also introduced a brand new product, Pinto Bean and Black Bean MultiGrain Chips! These bean-based chips are also made with Flax, Sesame and Sunflower Seeds plus Quinoa for a true MutiGrain experience in a tasty snack chip. See a full list of FSTG Chips at This Link!

Yula YogurtYula Yogurt

Inspired by an authentic Australian recipe, Yulu Yogurt is double smoothed – and I do not know that means, exactly, but what I can tell you is that it tastes fantastic. Yulu has a texture and consistency that more closely resembles pudding than yogurt, which I think makes for a more highly desirable mouth feel.

Yulu Yogurt

At Food Fete, Yulu offered a “Make Your Own” Toppings Bar and I created this delicious little snack for myself with a couple of fresh raspberries and a sprinkle of sweet chocolate shavings on top of their Vanilla flavor yogurt. It was the most delicious thing. Yulu also has 9 grams of protein per serving, so it is a good snack for between meals. Click over to Yulu Yogurt Dot Com to find out more, get coupons and store information, plus be eligible for giveaways! Yay for Yulu!

Horizon Organic Fruit Crunchers

Horizon Dairy is a company we already love for its family of delicious organic products. Horizon’s new Fruit Crunchers snack is a great on-the-go treat and can even be used to top sundaes or fruit salads.

Toasted Coconut Fruit Crunchers

I threw these Toasted Coconut Crunchers on top of my Yulu Yogurt and they made it taste extra special! Fruit Crunchers also come in Apple and are made with 100% real fruit with no artificial ingredients. Visit Horizon Dairy on the web at This Link!

Sweet Earth

While we do not at all considered Meat to be a four letter word, we are always open to vegetarian and vegan options when it comes to tasty proteins and meat substitutes. Because good food is good food! Sweet Earth Foods hosted an amazing booth where an abundance of their exciting new products were available to sample, including:

Tuscan Savory Grounds: Italian Spicy Sausage flavor in a meatless, ground meat-emulating product! Savory Grounds also come in Chipotle, and Barbecue flavors, so your meatless recipe options are nearly limitless!

Sweet Earth Seitan

Recipe Ready Seitan: The “Wheat Meat” comes in a variety of tasty, pre-seasoned flavors including Curry, Chipotle and also traditional flavor. Hail Seitan!

Sesame Squares: in Tart Cherry & Hemp Seed, and Chocolate varieties, these energy-packed bars are super high in fiber, rich in taste and natural snacking at its best. Visit Sweet Earth Foods Dot Com to explore a new world of deliciousness.

Glass of Wine

And now, let us raise a glass to Jeff Davis for bringing the fabulousness of Food Fete to hungry food bloggers four times annually! See you in the Spring!

Me Gusta Top Chef!

Top Chef Cleaver

We’re already about five weeks into the latest season of Bravo’s awesome reality cooking competition, Top Chef – one of my very favorite TV shows. This season, which is set in Las Vegas, is very, very good indeed! But I’ve yet to blog about Top Chef Las Vegas because there are so many other sites (Best Week Ever, Television Without Pity, Gawker) that recap this show weekly with so much more snark and mean-spirited hilarity than I could ever even hope to muster. And you know me: if I can’t be the best at something I don’t even try to get in the game. But even though I bear a serious grudge against Gawker for mysteriously banning me from commenting on their typo-ridden posts, their live-blog recap of last night’s Top Chef episode is just too hilarious not to share the link. Be sure to read all of the reader comments at the end of the post for their added value.

Why Cirie is an Idiot who Deserves to be Voted off the Island Immediately

Challenging!

Pile-O-Survivors: Cirie is on the far left.

*SPOILER ALERT* Survivor fans who have not yet seen last night’s episode are advised to read this blog entry post-viewing.

Last night, before the snow started to come down really heavy, I made the two block journey over to Tracy’s for our weekly Survivor: Fans Vs Favorites viewing ritual. Because when you live in an apartment the size of large, furnished shoebox, a change of scenery is always welcome. We are only three episodes into the season but I think it is starting to get good. While Malakal, the Favorites Tribe (whom Tracy and I are both enthusiastically routing for over Airai, the Fans, who are totally lame) viciously kicked ass in the Reward Challenge, they did not fair so well when Immunity was “Up for Grabs” and earned their second trip to Tribal Council.

Now, I really love a Survivor player who gets into a serious, mind-fucking “head” game right away, but honestly the amount of post-Immunity Challenge bickering-slash-strategizing that went on amongst the Favorites started to give me a “god, please make them stop” kind of stomach ache. And although there may be more than a couple of brain dead doofuses on Malakal, the big idiot of the night turned out to be Cirie. Despite the fact that she proved herself to be one of the better strategic players on her original season, “Survivor Panama: Exile Island” – making it as far as the Final Four – this time around Cirie has lost her rational mind completely. Tracy and I agree that she’s also gotten kind of uppity, which puts me off right away.

Post Continues, After The Jump!

Bye Bye, Gravedigger James!

“James, Voted Out At The Lasat Tribal Council and the 4th Member of Our Jury”

Well, wonders really do never cease. I’m not sure how to feel about the Tribal Council results of last night’s Survivor. Am I sad that favored-to-win James was voted out because he was too effing stupid to play one of the two personal Immunity Idols in his possession? Or am I happy that someone who was too stupid to play an Immunity Idol was voted out? Read Televison Without Pity’s recap after the jump.
