Bauhaus Stairway Mural (1989) speaks to Roy Lichtenstein’s dialogue with various art historical styles, which would figure prominently throughout his career. Measuring more than 26 feet tall and painted in oil and Magna on canvas, this spectacular mural pays homage to the German artist Oskar Schlemmer (1888 – 1943) and his painting Bahaustreppe (Bauhaus Stairway, 1932), which is held in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in NYC, and reproduced below.

Oh my, I do love a Pink Room. This corridor will take you to the staircase that leads to second floor location of Meet on Chrystie, a corporate meeting space whose décor could only have been done by an artist. It’s pretty groovy.

Dylan’s Candy Bar is a national chain of high-end designer candy emporiums conceived by Ralph Lauren’s daughter, Dylan. With maybe a dozen stores scattered between New York and Los Angeles, the brand’s flagship store on Lexington Avenue merges the worlds of art, fashion and pop culture with candy so successfully, it is like Willy Wonka exploded in your face.
