If you’re looking for a holiday visual that practically shouts “Step Into the Vortex,” look no further than this groovy pink window display I spotted at The Grove in Hollywood. Viewed from the street, the storefront is covered in a bold, radiating swirl of hot-pink stripes that create the illusion of being pulled into a fabulous, candy-colored wormhole.

TV Eye On You: The All-Seeing Storefront of Canal Street’s New Hi-Tech Corp

If you’ve  wandered along the gritty stretch of Canal Street where the LES meets Chinatown, you’ve probably passed right by a storefront that feels like a glitch in the matrix. Nestled among cell phone kiosks and dollar stores is New Hi-Tech Corp, a longstanding electronics repair shop at 47 Canal Street (founded in 1983) whose hypnotic display window turns more heads than any shiny gadget inside ever could.

Pink Thing of The Day: Dress Made From Pink Barbie Shoes

The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) in midtown Manhattan is currently hosting Barbie: A Cultural Icon, an exhibit celebrating the 65-year legacy of Barbie. I’m in the process of distilling my recent visit to the exhibit into a broader post, but in the meantime let’s look at something which did not quite make it into the exhibit proper: this fashionable Cocktail Dress created entire of tiny Pink Barbie Shoes, which is displayed prominently in the window of the museum’s high-end gift shop. ABC Carpet & Home is a well-known luxury home goods store in New York City’s Flatiron District. Their price point extends far beyond my budget and I don’t recall ever purchasing anything from them in the 35 years I’ve lived-in Manhattan. However, I do enjoy browsing their inventory for inspiration, and I’m always attracted to their well-designed window displays, like these ones featuring a cute Pink Llama!
