RIP Tony Curtis

“Flintstones! Meet the Flinstones!”

Legendary Actor Tony Curtis – father of actress Jamie Lee Curtis – has passed away on September 29, 2010 at the fine age of 85. Since today is, coincidentally, also the 50th anniversary of the premiere of The Flintstones animated TV show, I thought it would be a perfect way to honor both by featuring this cartoon version of Tony Curtis (aka Stony Curtis) with Fred Flintstone in a scene from one of the series’ episodes that ran way back when I was just an egg. RIP Tony, and God Bless The Flintstones.

He first gained the attention of the design press in 2001 when he turned a Philippe Starck Bubble Club chair into the lamp pictured above.

RIP Alexander McQueen

Wow, talk about sad and shocking news: Fashion designer Alexander McQueen was found dead this morning, February 11th, 2010,  at his home in west London. He was 40 years old. McQueen designed simply amazing clothes that were often more like works of art than wearable fashion. He will be missed.

RIP Punk Icon Brendan Mullen

brendan mullen

Wow, this is a fucking shock and a huge drag. I just heard that Brendan Mullen, Scottish-born champion of the late 70s / early 80s LA Punk Scene and owner of the Masque club in Hollywood has passed away from a stroke, having just celebrated his 60th birthday this past Friday. The LA Times has a preliminary obit at the link above. I can’t even address this right now. RIP Brendan.
