In late-20th century Japan, the color pink became widely associated with the girl culture and it’s preoccupation with Kawaii or extreme cuteness – demonstrated here by a Candy Pink Doll’s Dress merged onto an adult-sized sheath. This pink dress can also be worn as a prom outfit and this pink prom dress details experiment with elements of Kawaii style, using ruffles, a Peter Pan collar, and frothy textures.

This whimsical silk dress Pansy Dress (2017) is composed of giant images of pansies. The pansy is a flower’s unique blends of color are a result of crossbreeding, a concept not lost on Scottish fashion designer Christopher Kane. Cain once remarked, “that’s what I am doing now – cross breeding my ideas . . . Pansies are a symbol of freethinking! I like that. I never want to follow trends.”

Eye On Design: Alberto Guardiani’s Lipstick Heel Pumps
Would you pay $400 for a lipstick? No way! How about $400 for high heels? Well, maybe. Luxury footwear brand Alberto Guardiani, founded in 1940 by brothers Luigi and Dino Guardiani, initially manufactured men’s shoes under the Nuova Centauro brand (which still exists). Alberto, the son of Dino, took over the business in 1972 and the brand is now one of the leading Italian manufactures of shoes and accessories. Two of fashion’s sexiest accessories – red lipstick and black high heels – come together for their remarkable Lipstick Heel Pumps collection.
