Here’s another one of my favorite Dining By Design Installations from this year’s DIFFA event, which features carefully curated dining vignettes that raise awareness for individuals impacted by HIV/AIDS. Gensler New York’s 2019 design concept, titled You Are Beautiful, served as a celebratory reminder to all those individuals living with HIV/AIDS that they are Beautiful, both inside and out, they deserve enduring happiness, and, most importantly, they are not alone in their fight. Summer is now in full swing, and what better way to celebrate summer than with a beach-themed Pink Thing of the Day! These eye-catching Pink and White Striped Beach Balls, each emblazoned with the image of a Pink Flamingo, where spotted as part of a fashion clothing display at Bergdorf Goodman on Fifth Avenue in NYC!

Jonathan LeVine Gallery is currently hosting External Effect, a series of new works by Japanese artist Masakatsu Sashie. This is Sashie’s second solo exhibition at the gallery, and I somehow neglected to write about his first show, so I didn’t want to fail twice at sharing a series of artworks that is really special.

Glass Bambi

While on an Art Safari at The Met this past weekend, we discovered the rare Glass Bambi, which is actually called PixCell-Deer #24, created in 2011 by Japanese artist Kohei Nawa as part of his Heisei period works. Glass Bambi was realized by covering a full sized Taxidermied Deer with variably sized artificial crystal glass beads, called PixCells, a term coined by the artist. PixCell combines the idea of a Pixel — the smallest unit of a digital image — with that of a Cell. Clever. Continue reading Glass Bambi
