Confession: While the Poo emoji may be a convenient way to express the feeling that something or someone is Shit (as opposed to The Shit), I am not really down with this whole ‘making poo seem cute’ thing.  I don’t need to see a smiling Poo made into a pillow or a purse or a keychain. Leave me out of the Poo Renaissance, please. That goes also for the Original Bag of Poo that I spotted in a port shop in Ketchikan, Alaska. It’s just a cutesy way to market expensive  Brown Cotton Candy. PASS!

Piero Manzoni (July 13, 1933 – February 6, 1963) was an Italian artist best known for his ironic approach to avant-garde art. His work is widely seen as a critique of the mass production and consumerism that was changing Italian society (the Italian economic miracle) after World War II. In 1961, Manzoni created Artist’s Shit (Italian: Merda d’artista), an artwork that consists of 90 small tin cans, each filled with 1.1 oz of feces, and measuring 1.9″ × 2.6″, with a label in Italian, English, French, and German stating:

Artist’s Shit
Contents 30 gr net

I was last minute Holiday shopping with my sister at Tom’s Toys on Honolulu Street in beautiful downtown Montrose, California when we spied on the shelf this game centered around the fun objective of cleaning up dog excrement! Exciting! We could certainly use the real life version of this game here on the streets of New York City!
